You're not wrong, but as has been pointed out by many of the pundits, there is a large swath of Americans (at least 50%) who are not enjoying the fruits of the so-called booming economy. The gap between rich and poor has grown significantly over the past ten years. Saying that inflation is under control and unemployment is low, while grocery prices are at all-time highs, is just plain tone deaf. All the other nonsense (gender issues, Palestine, etc., etc.) was just icing on the cake. I blame myself for not seeing it beforehand, but it took November 5th for me to truly understand just how many Americans feel disenfranchised and how completely out of touch the Democratic Party is. It's just a shame that these folks think that Donald J. Trump will solve their problems. (He won't.)
That's not Democrat's fault; that's food/drug/grocery chain CEOs holding everything hostage for their precious fucking tax cuts. Was Biden supposed to roll the tanks in on the fuckers?
Bullshit. There is such a thing as positive masculinity. It's just that nobody on the right practices it.
Oh, come on. Nobody is trying to take parents' rights away. They're just trying to give the children of shitty parents a lifeline.
I think this RS article makes a few decent points. Most of us are old enough to remember the absolute evil that radiated off of Dick Cheney when he was VP, and that he pretty much ran the show in terms of who we bombed on any given day during the GW Bush years. When the Harris campaign started tacking right to pick up those throngs of Dick and Liz Cheney voters (???) I wondered what the hell they were doing. Republicans are going to keep voting Republican. Why would they want a lighter version of the Republican party with compromises when they can have the whole ass Republican party without compromise and with a majority in the government to do what they want? So while there were any number of missteps, I do see this as one that probably changed the course of the campaign after such a promising start. Dem Insiders Begged Team Harris Not to Campaign With Liz Cheney “People don’t want to be in a coalition with the devil,” says a Democratic source who was appalled by Harris’ embrace of Dick Cheney Source: https://www.rollingstone.com/politi...rats-campaign-trump-election-2024-1235158805/ Honestly, every staffer that made such a recommendation to court the "moderate" Republican wing should be fired and never rehired for any Democratic campaign ever again. It's so damned tone deaf.
Dear lord. As of 9:26 pm on Friday 11/8/24 Arizona 81 percent reported Trump 1.4 million Kamala 1.2 million Nevada 95 percent reported Trump 720k Kamala 671k Polls closed three nights ago. Much bigger states are at 99 percent. Do these two have computers or are they hand counting each and every ballot? What a joke.
For a time, at least most people agreed that Trump supporters were and are fucking weird. Weird little cultists.
I'm also old enough to remember Obama's campaign that was about going to places in red states that the DNC slagged off as lost causes like Virgina (which shocking all shock is now a reliably blue statel and Iowa, which Obama won in both caucas and the general election. He didn't spend all of 2008 telling people about Bush sucking--we already knew that. "Hope and Change" was a slogan many laughed off, but in the end, that exactly what won him the biggest electoral blowout since Reagan. Regardless of the policies he would later institute and being a centralist President, he did the damn thing of getting people excited to go to the polls. And instead of learning lessons from that, HEC and Harris just went "LOL no." Clinton being a white woman i get, but even knowing from first hand experience how sheltered native California Black people can be, I dunno how Harris forgot the thing all of us got hammered into us from the day he can walk: you have to be twice as good to get half as much respect. And if this half assed shit didn't work for one of the most privileged women in politics, it sure enough wasn't gonna work for her.
He may be the least manly, but he is the most boiley. Someone get Dr. Pimple popper and we will solve this problem.
I am too fucking exhausted by this ill-informed recitation of bullshit priors to give this the wordy rebuttal in my head. Suffice to say that it's entirely wrong (as an analyis of this election) Despite that one point must be made: the right doesn't hate "identity politics" - they literally fucking INVENTED IT and their entire world worldview is constructed on that foundation.. White and "Christian" are political identities. Its the same cognitive bias that has plagued"western civilization" for its entire existence: assume that you white and Christian are the default right and normal way to be and therefore they CAN'T be an identity, only that which diverges from "normal" is an identity. Still bullshit tho
Disagree. The right conditioned a segment of the population to build their entire existence around resentment for over 40 years. All they have to do in any given election is tell them who they resent this time (Like that meme about switching the chip in a MAGA dude's head) That doesn't take any empathy at all. Not a single right wing issue is founded on empathy in any sense, it's all retribution and vengeance and grievence. Meanwhile most of Dem messaging (Gaza and the recent posturing about immigration excepted) couldn't even exist without a full measure of empathy. The problem is that, on a broad scale, most Americans are Not particularly empathetic and don't see it as something to aspire to. Many are indifferent, many more don't even understand it.
Because they are mal-informed and hopelessly unable to grasp reality. Thus easily manipulated. The results of 40+ years of focused indoctrination.
Kamala should not be disappointed in herself or her people. It is America who has shamefully elected Trump over her. America has shown their overwhelming racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, regressive, anti-immigrant, christian nationalist disease. It is no longer a matter of whether or not America has recessed back into the clutches of this malady, but rather how far the rabid cancer has grown.
Perhaps he was supposed to . . . I dunno . . . Raise the minimum wage?!? Think that might have helped some people who needed it most? Shown that Democrats could and would make a real difference in people's lives?
