In terms of post-credits sequences that is the ultimate one. Newsreader: in a 5:4 decision, the United States Supreme Court today ruled that term limits are unconstitutional, and that the president can run for a third term. Interior, White House, Oval Office: Trump leans back behind his desk and smiles. Credits: Roll Mid credits: Library, day. A desk sits with a book open on it. A hand turns the page. We follow the arm up to the face of BARACK OBAMA. Obama: ...Yes we can. Snap to end credits.
I don't support unlimited term limits for anyone. Turnover is essential to keeping things from becoming ossified, and a leader with a cult of personality can use them to stay in office for life. That said, an exception must be made for Obama versus Trump. It would be a grudge match of epic proportions. Here’s how I see it going down: Obama would dominate Trump like a cheap whore. Hulk Hogan would come in in the last minute and hit Obama with a steel chair, but Obama would no sell it and drop Hogan with a Hope and Change Clothesline. Trump comes up from behind and attempts his finisher, the Big Mac Attack, but Obama counters with the Yes We Can Clutch and drops Trump for the pin. And then Obama wins the actual election.
Meanwhile all the teachers in America are wondering what the actual fuck is going to happen. You fucking rightie morons did this, going to be your mess to clean up this go around. Can't blame any bullshit going forward on the other side.
This. We might end up with a GOP Executive, Legislative, and Judicial sweep at this point. We likely will. I guaran-goddamn-tee you there will be people blaming the coming disaster of their leadership on socialism. They haven't learned, they won't learn, they don't need to learn, they have what they already think they know, and that kind of ignorant mediocrity is powerful.
Next episode: Navalney Redux I'm thinking that the next Dem nominee needs to seriously reckon with the potential of being arrested the week after the DNC
I'm voting "yes" for Trump, because a "no" vote gets you sent to the camps. If I get sent to the camps anyway, I'm offering a discount on the shanks I make. Only five honey buns or ten ramen packages. Buy two, get one free.
that actually works for me. The only good thing about the camps will be the guaranteed weight loss. I’m gonna shed those lbs like nobody's business.
The idea that Trump will cancel general elections is not serious. If it were, then regardless of his election win, Biden should not transfer power to him without explicit commitments.
Oh, there will be an election. Almost every country in the world has elections. But Republicans will do everything in their power to make sure the elections don't matter. This is not prediction or speculation; they have already been doing it for the past decade-plus. It's just that the more power they have, the greater their chances of succeeding.
Perhaps you are unfamiliar with Trump's history with "commitments"? In any case, Putin held an "election ' this year too, and the Orange Fascist is quite the fan of how Putin runs his country.
Dementia does not do well with stress. The presidency hits hard, even if all you do is take executive time and golf. They guy cannot help but fight with the world, and that is not going away. He is not going to get better. What the US needs to worry about is what is following Trump and gets a hold of the feeble old guy's power.
Why Does No One Understand the Real Reason Trump Won? It wasn’t the economy. It wasn’t inflation, or anything else. It was how people perceive those things, which points to one overpowering answer.
The single best thing that could happen to the world is a massive well-placed incapacitating stroke before February. Why? Because we have learned repeatedly that Trump isn't transferable. No one else can run as a Trump clone and succeed. The Republicans, who will still attempt much evil that were pre-existing party goals, not Trump goals, will not be cowed by President Vance and we might very well pulll out of the death-spiral towards fascism.
I would like to see a stroke happen, but it seems miserable shits tend to survive those sorts of things. The best way to live into your 90's is to hate everything, and tell everyone how miserable you are while blaming them for your troubles.
Why? Who’s going to hold Trump to account for using the military to prevent anyone from challenging him? SCOTUS has held that he is absolutely immune for use core presidential powers, and that includes issuing orders to the military or DoJ. Republicans won’t remove him from office. Democrats will not have the majority necessary to do so, and that’s if he doesn’t have them killed. It seems likely that SCOTUS will soon prevent state prosecutions of presidents, so Trump can just buy a gun and shoot them personally if the military won’t do it, but there’s no reason to think he can’t build his own Praetorian Guard and use them as an assassination squad. With Trump v. US, democracy was dead as soon as there was a sociopath in the White House. Naturally, we picked one at the first opportunity. It’s GG, y’all. I hear there’s a Malaysian city development in a free trade zone with $200k 2br condos. I’m strongly considering buying one as a fallback position. I suggest if you have the means y’all start looking too.
I mean, FF has a point, his lies are as weak as the piss you get from a Floridian. But he does do it all the time. It's leaking out of his gold-painted sneakers right now.
Yeah, I'm calling it now and no one will be happier to see me eat crow than I will if I'm wrong, but there won't be a 2028 election. Not a legitimate one, anyway.
If you're not a liar, then you're incredibly dumb. Based on the things you say, those are the only options.
Worth posting here: https://www.tumblr.com/vaspider/687643661640581120/pete-buttigieg-is-just-a-faggot-its-very Whole lotta assimilationist people got big mad about the author saying what he said, but he's right and frankly I get the sense the only thing Pete Buttigeig likes about being gay is his husband (and he's probably Dutch him if it got him in the White House)
I want to be optimistic, but while US elections are already fraught with democracy issues (the Electoral College, and First Past the Post voting, for example), but the 2028 elections will exist in form but not in function. It would be like when a dictator has an election and offers you an alternative choice, and somehow 99.9% of the voters choose the dictator. It will likely be a sham at best, IMO. There's no way Trump will relinquish power, assuming he's still around by then, and his narcissistic personality wouldn't allow for dissent.
How do you remain so fucking ignorant about these things? Trump's supporters have been very explicit about all the legal loopholes and dirty tricks they planned on using to overturn the results of the actual vote if things didn't go their way. Turns out they didn't need them in 2024, but it'll be much, much easier for them to resort to them in 28 if the need arises. Probably not, but Biden isn't a tyrant, nor does he have any desire to be. And any commitment Trump makes to anyone is worthless the moment he gets what he wants. Just ask any New York construction contractor.
