Alex Jones found guilty in Connecticut Sandy Hook defamation case.

So, apparently, the judge in the TX case ruled that the ~$45 million judgment against Jones is exempt from the cap law on a technicality and stated that the law itself is unconstitutional. That really opens up a can of worms because this is going to be appealed (all the way to SCOTUS, I'm sure) and a whole bunch of folks are going to be filing "friend of the court" briefs. You'll have consumer advocacy groups siding with the victims, of course. But the real interesting thing will be who sides with Jones on the subject that the cap is constitutional. Because whoever does is immediately going to get smeared as "supporting Alex Jones." Some companies won't care if they get heat for that or not, but others will.

It for sure would eliminate Texas from the list of "corporate friendly" venues for forum shopping corporations.
