So I got a bunch of gift cards for Gander Mountain over my last birthday and Christmas. Don't ask me why...I don't hunt, and I very rarely go camping, hiking, or fishing. So I figure I'll just put them towards getting some bulk ammo before the next panic buy or zombie apocalypse...which ever comes first. Only problem is I can't decide between 7.62N (or even just .308 if they even sell that in bulk) for the shower gun, or 5.56N for the AR. Which should I get?
I'd say 20/80 or even 10/90. For social work (zombies, late night visitors, etc.), either is more than adequate. But the 5.56/.223 is much cheaper; you can get quite a few more shots per dollar amount spent. Get a few boxes of 7.62/.308 to have some on hand (40-60 rounds is plenty for any need short of a full-on zombie apocalypse), but spend the majority on 5.56/.223 and have plenty available for recreational shooting! (Also, is a conimdrum anything like a conundrum? )
Oh, I forgot to mention. I've already got 200ish rounds of 7.62. So I guess 5.56 is in order. It's like conundrum, but where your right hand isn't quite lined up right on the home row.
decisions, decisions - there is no wrong answer really. 7.62 gives you more stopping power on human-sized targets. Especially the larger US humans which (depending on your location) can exceed well over 200 pounds. That said, you can transport more 5.56 ammo while expending X amount of energy.
I've thought it over and you should add them together and get some 13.18 ammo! God knows what you'd shoot it out of tho . . .
The parent case of the .22-250 is the .250 Savage, not the .308 Winchester. The .22-250 is actually 15 years older than the .308.
I just got 300 rounds of Lake City XM855. Not exactly bulk, but better than I had before. Oh, and I used my new switchblade to open the box of ammo, but not before cutting myself in a bad ass fashion.
A buddy of mine was given 500 rounds of Lake City 7.62 NATO from the estate of another friend's step-dad.
