Last month I asked when Link’s ridership was going to slow down. Hope you didn’t pick August, because Link grew a whopping 21% in that month! August’s Central Link Weekday/Saturday/Sunday average boardings were 39,210 / 30,159 / 27,458, growth of 21.0%, 0.5%, and 13.3% respectively over August 2013. Similar to June and July Saturday was low, however the weekend average still increased as a whole. Sounder’s weekday boardings were up 14.4% with ridership increasing on both lines. Tacoma Link’s weekday ridership decreased 1.9%. Weekday ST Express ridership was up 6.4%. System wide weekday boardings were up 11.5%, and all boardings were up 7.7%. The complete August Ridership Summary ishere. My charts below the fold.
Chinese authorities have confiscated the residency permits and other personal documents of a group of Tibetan nomads in northwestern Qinghai province who refused to move from their traditional grazing grounds to impoverished resettlement towns, according to Tibetan sources.
For Tibetan Buddhist Lydia Polzer, learning a foreign language has become an integral part of her religious practice. Polzer first became interested in the eastern tradition a decade ago after attending meditation courses at the Kagyu Samye Dzong Tibetan centre in London. What started as a curiosity about the benefits of mindfulness quickly developed into a greater involvement with some of the more complex Buddhist rituals. Tibetan Buddhism first put down roots in the UK in the 60s, with the founding of Kagyu Samye Ling monastery in Scotland in 1967, and the tradition’s mother tongue is still preferred by both western monastic and lay practitioners for recitation of prayers during these practices.
Christmas coming up... and after that...sales. We know, yes, it IS hard because so many shops have only but Chinese made goods but think about the following before you buy: 1. every dollar we spend on something which is made in China, is a dollar in the hands of the Communist Regime (yep, we know, not the Whole dollar but you know what we mean) and with that they can buy more guns and tanks and more of our real estates, banks, shoppingmalls, theaters, land.. 2. every dollar we spend on an article which was made in China is a dollar that does NOT go to our own manufacturers and nations: it goes to China. So every dollar we spend on a Chinese made product is not helping our own economies. 3. and then ofcourse....there is Tibet.. for that reason alone already, we should Boycott made in China products and services, and that includes our Governments...what they are doing with Russia, (sanctions) and the result that has in such a short time, why cant that be done with China? after all, China and Russia are big friends and thus....
After opening all his gifts my 7 year looked at me and said "Did you even send Santa my list I gave you?"
