Just so we’re clear. I will definitely cite this post next time you want to act like you are impartial. Fucking liar. I hate liars.
How’d that work for Ross Perot? Or, should I say, Bill Clinton, since Perot took more votes from Bush than he did Bill.
I’d say it worked well for Billy Bob, those debates were held on the three big bass , not PS or Cspan. Also, Ross Perot is way the two parties changed the threshold as to how and why third party candidates can’t debate.
Corporate media and the political parties. I will do some opining: I think we both agree that neither Biden or Trump are our ideal candidates regardless of what party you may prefer wins. Trump seriously fucked up the pandemic and added a lot to the debt and he didn’t respond to the George Floyd riots or J6 in the way that I would have liked, or even the walk or the economy and both are too old, IMO. The problem is that there’s nobody else on either side and like it or not or disagree or no t Bideyis the weaker looking candidate. Three or four things that Biden critics led bringing up that I can’t get an answer to is (a) Why didn’t the administration codify Roe when thy had the chance? (B) Why didn’t they raise the minimum wage when they had the chance? (C) Why didn’t they come up with universal healthcare when they had the chances? And lastly ( D) what’s up with their unconditional support of Israel? Now I’m not saying I support any of these things one way or the other, but I think these are questions that the left wan answered. then you have this effort to cancel primaries, the write in effort tin NH and the effort to squash debates. Does any of that speak to you of a candidate campaign? Let’s also not forget that Biden spent his 2020 campaign hiding in his basement.
That had a 51-vote majority in the Senate, there's no way that Joe Manchin would have supported it, not to mention the fact that all any Republican had to do was to threaten to filibuster it in the Senate and that was that. They tried. Krysten Sinema killed it. Again, a 51-seat majority in the Senate, no way Manchin would support it, and the filibuster rule means it'd never even hit the floor. One of the largest lobbying groups in the country is unabashedly pro-Isreal, and since politics runs on money, there's your answer. Thus demonstrating that you know even less about the left than you do, well, anything. "Candidate campaign"? Remind me, again, what the big news story of 2020 was, besides the election? Something about a global pandemic? Is that right? Any idea of when the vaccine might have been released?
@Ancalagon I got something for you. I know you may be adverse to YouTube clips or whatever. Despite that l, I urge you to watch the Real Time clip of Ari Melber who is 100% convinced that J6 was an insurrection, but believes that Trump should be convicted of an insurrection before taken off the ballot.
To expand on what Tuckerfan said, they never had the chance to do a-c because 1. Congrsss has created a system where a minority can stymie any legislation through the filibuster and other procedural tactics such that a large, united and organized minority like the Republicans can and will bar these things and 2. even if/when they could get through the roadblocks inherent in the system, the majority is dependent on Senate members who are conservative and who would not support those things, meaning that they didn't have an actual majority. I want to point out that you are straight up wrong and either a liar or have the memory of a head-trauma patient to say that you can't get an answer to those things, since I expressly pointed in another thread that Manchin and Sinema rejected a minimum wage hike and Medicare for All, like in the last week with links. http://wordforge.net/index.php?posts/3519460/ Here's a story about Manchin siding against codifying Roe. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2022/05/joe-manchin-vote-against-codify-roe-wade-senate
I dunno, the horse-paste people were actually like "our product doesn't cure covid, Joe Rogan is dumb".
Then you’d better start being nicer to the ones you love and stop accusing them of shit you’ve made up in your mind.
Like the CDC telling people that cloth masks are 100% effective or Biden saying if you get vaccinated you can't get covid or government officials saying it wasn't a lab leak when we know all three are false?
Doesn't matter to me, but it will matter to the progressives, but you don't care about that do you because you support shutting down debates.
Like the CDC telling people that cloth masks are 100% effective or Biden saying if you get vaccinated you can't get covid or government officials saying it wasn't a lab leak when we know all three are false?
Why do you say such stupid shit? No, as far as I know, none of those things were ever stated as absolute. So, you’re arguing someone says “probably” and you’re like “AHA!” Do you even hear how stupid that sounds?
No, it's just people were ridiculed for saying otherwise and the DoJ told social media sites to shut you down if you said something different. But a little bit of violating the first amendment is fine if it's against your political apponants right?
The DOJ shut down social media sites BECAUSE people were stupidly believing covid was a lie. And second, why do you care if someone ridicules you for saying something that may or may not be contrary to mainstream thinking? God knows, I’ve lived my entire life like that. That you cry about it, makes me laugh at you all the more.
They're not supposed to doing that. Period. It's a violation of the first amendment. And you're wrong, they were shutting down people for telling the goddamn truth as well.
Violation of the first amendment??!??!!? How? You do know what a pandemic is right? Shutting down social media sites that attempted to persuade people to not be cautious would fall under the purview of the federal government to avoid social chaos. Seriously, were you dropped on your head multiple times when you were a baby?
Sure, it matters to progressives, so expect to see us applying more and more pressure to the Democrats over the matter. And, honestly, the debates, especially in this Presidential election cycle, are, and have always been, pretty much a joke. If it takes you that long to figure out who you're going to be voting for, you're pretty much an idiot. One can make the argument that they served some kind of purpose in the era before the internet, if not mass media, but today? The moment someone announces that they're running for President, you have the ability to find out shit loads of information about a candidate. If you don't do that, well, that's on you.
