Wanted to get the last little bit of riding in before I have to say goodbye to my bike for the winter. We have a storm front moving in and it'll be rainy/snowy later, but this morning there were 18kt winds that lined up perfectly with a straight stretch of road. I was going only 8-10 mph into the wind, but with a tailwind and the highest gear I was zooming! Glad I didn't wipe out; that would have been messy.
Awesome! Did you have any hill assist, or was it just muscle and air? I've gotten in the fifties before, but always with a bit of gravity lending a hand. Don't know that I've ever made 40 on a flat spot, but then again, there are very few flat spots where I live.
It was also slightly downhill for about 1/3 of the way, which helped. Then there's a slight uphill, which normally helps me to slow down before I hit the intersection, but this was the first time I had to slam on my breaks going uphill because I was still over 25 mph just before the stop sign!
