Caught this last night, and was a bit wary given the reviews were mixed to say the least. I'm not sure why the reviews were mixed - if you liked the first one, you'll like this, if you didn't like the first one, well, you're not going to be liking this. One review did mention that too much was trying to be shovelled in, which I can agree with - Channing Tatum isn't in it much, in fact he may have less screen time than Elton John happily hamming it up. Apparently there was enough that Fox suggested a parts 1 and 2, and it shows. Another mentioned doubling down on the cruder aspects, which it really doesn't, it's about the same as the first. Although the method for the Statesman tracker could cause a few prudes to grumble. There is some satire, heavy-handed, and gives some food for thought on drugs without chewing said food much itself. Pace goes quickly. Plenty of hat-tips to Bond tropes, including a submarine-car that is a little more downmarket than Roger Moore's Lotus. Harry Hart's return is handled well, if a little forced, but it makes sense. It's not a throwaway plot device that brings him back, as it gets used later. One bit I very much liked was Don't go in expecting a tour de force in storytelling, it's a fun film in every way the crappy Grimsby wasn't, and is a decent sequel to the original. A comfy 8/10.
