So we have some updates on upcoming movies that make me cautiously optimistic about things: X-Men: Age of Apocalypse, which I'm cautiously hopeful about. Bryan Singer can't comprehend that costumes in the movies are OK now, but at least Jubilee is gonna look like Jubilee. Still, I always hated Jubilee. Most annoying part of the cartoons. And somehow I doubt we'll see her depowered, teched up, and then turned into a vampire in these films. Likewise, though I still see her as "Sansa" and not "Jean Grey" yet, Sophie Turner at least looks the part. If she's written at all like she is in All-New X-Men, I'll be ecstatic. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was awful. I mean, I realize the movies have ALWAYS been awful, but the first one, the one I had a poster of in my room throughout elementary school, at least had a sense of menace to it. And Shredder didn't look like a transformer. It was a poorly written film, bland, and made changes that were nonsensical at best. Okay, I've got the ticket, I've already bought into giant kung-fu anthropomorphized animals, but...learning jiujitsu solely from ONE book? Really? Ughhhhhhh. Why make THAT change? However, the sequel might improve on the original. Not a tall order, of course, but hey. A black baxter stockman. A new, hopefully more streamlined Shredder actor. And now, Casey Jones. Casey Jones, at least, looks good. Accurate, but not slavishly so. And most importantly, he looks intimidating. Maybe I'll see the sequel....
