In other words, you're saying you're a big fan?

But seriously... I disagree with your analysis. Cheers is just one example of a successful ensemble television series that broke the mold of family and workplace sitcoms, and it predates Friends by more than a decade. (Notwithstanding the fact that Cheers was infinitely more clever and well-acted than Friends.)

Friends basically took a bunch of pre-existing television formulas and repackaged them in a very consumable way for Gen Xers and Millennials. It's basically the fast food of television. Sure, it may satisfy a craving for some people but ultimately it's wasted calories.

I wasn't a huge friend's fan, but it entertained a lot of people, was low on the toxicity scale, and generally improved the moods of many people with it's comedy. I don't think WAB wants to start posting their idea of good for some criticism. I do not see much reason to shit on friends or it's fans. It is pretty harmless.

The only complaint I have is it is very white, but I am not sure a bland Oh Snap black person would have been an improvement.

Friends was "Living Single" with white people. I wasn't a fan.

One of my favorite dark comedies starred Matthew Perry where he played a dentist who's wife hired a hitman to kill him. The name was "The Whole Nine Yards." It also starred Bruce Willis and Michael Clarke Duncan. It's sad to think that 2 of those 3 are now gone and last one is struggling with his health. RIP Matt Perry.

I'm getting old. All of my legends are dying and my doctor is trying to stick a camera up my asshole. :(

Get it done and don't complain. I've had four of them so far. Not kidding.

I lost both my father and my uncle to colon cancer. It's easily one of the most preventable and treatable cancers with regular checkups.

So when that camera gets shoved up your ass, just say "please sir, may I have some more?"

    Three's Company!
    They weren't a family, or co-workers.

...hmm, it just occurred to me, Tenchi Muyo is basically Three's Company with X-Men superpowers, and lightsabers.

Not for Norm, Cliff, Frasier, Lilith, Paul and a host of other characters. Even Diane was an on-again, off-again barmaid.

Ayup. This is like calling Friends a workplace show because we saw Monica's restaurant or a lot of the scenes were in Central Perk.

I always got the feeling that the friend's characters oftedn did stuff together outside of what was in the episodes while the Cheers group didn't comingle too much outside of the bar unless they were in a relationship. No one ever knew what Norm's wife looked like, which would have been absurd with a member of the friend's group.

I think the three's company comparison is a little closer considering how much we knew about Larry, The Ropers, and Mr. Ferley. We also saw them at the Regal Beagle, and eventually Jack's restaurant. The main part did take place in the appartment where the three of them lived, and then we saw The landlord appartment on occasion, and maybe Larry's place a couple of times.

I would say more a variation on the Three's company idea especially with the way multiple cast members often had humor with their dating and family lives that were mostly separate with some internal tension.

Also, let us remember there was Good Times, The Jeffersons, and the show with Valerie Brittaneli that I cannot remember the name of which involved a cast of characters sharing lives in a appartment building. Friend's was not the first at all in this set up.

If you are eliminating Family sitcoms then the jeffersons and one day at a time is out also.

But chandler and monica were family, and it seemed a lot of the plot revolved around their family over the others.

He took ketamine and then got into the hot tub. That's what killed him.

There's really solid scientific evidence that taking ketamine helps with things like depression and addiction. You remember the episode of House where he gets shot and asks for ketamine? There was a great blog run by an actual doctor who did reviews of episodes of House and he had a discussion about that episode and how ketamine had been shown to help with things like depression, etc. The problem is, if you take that stuff, you've got to have a "babysitter" to make sure that you don't have problems.

Yup, that would be a no no. Drugs along that line can also cause body temp regulation failure. That is not something you want when getting into a hot tub.
