The version they were going to do with Amy Schumer as the chunky foulmouthed Barbie who gets kicked out of Barbie-land would have been better. Not great, but better.
No, but I might pay to watch a few entertaining youtubers be tortured by it. However, if they have a dress up party with costumes I am so there as long as I can wear the dresses.
Definitely a date movie, and it's starting to look pretty awesome. forget the comparisons to other pop culture satires, it's going to hold its own place within the genre and have other things compared to it. If nothing else, maybe I won't hate Margot for being Hipster Harley anymore...
I was curious until I saw him in it. There is only one movie where him does not ruin it for me and that is zoolander, and that is only because he is the one villain I could see zoolander actually defeating.
wasn't that what Harley was considering she was an overpaid idiot shrink before being beaten into becoming Joker's stepford wife? The strong Harley is the lie, or at least what she might grow into at some point. The whole point of her character was she was trying to slum it so she could be next to puddin.
Stepford Wife!Harley Quinn hasn't been a thing for years and that was well before this show came into existance. The Joker is a part of her origin story, not the sole focus of her character and if you think otherwise, you probably haven't watched anything past season four of Batman TAS.
OTOH.. I love the fuck out of the animated series with Kaley Cuoco. It really is I just don't like MR in the role...
I got your back. I like Margot Robbie but she's completely wrong for Harley Quinn and I never liked her in the role.
Well, that gets my gears turning. Robbie had herself made producer on anything with Harley in the Snyder-verse. So, she effectively owns the role so long as it's Snyder-verse the way Arnold has to be The Terminator. Indeed, she is/was a mini-Feige of the Harley corner of the the DCEU. But! Gaga-Harley in Todd Philips-verse loopholes around that by being an Elseworlds. But! James Gunn has essentially rebooted away the Snyder-verse starting with the end of Flash. So, has that loosened Robbie's grip on Harley with a stick of butter? Is that over? Or does she still have any bargaining power? Now, me, I liked Robbie's portrayal, and I wanted to see the Harley & Ivy movie with Robbie. Looks like we're not getting that no matter what. But is the Feige-ification of James Gunn the reason? Or just cosmic synchronicity?
Question answered. She's a producer on this movie, and they're already talking sequel. She's moved on from Harley. It's all abut Barbie now.
This "Barbie" flick has piqued my interest. I'm going to go see it on its opening day & post my non-spoiler review of it in this thread.
