That is probably what he will do. But it isn't what he should do. What he should do is apologize, give whatever explanation he can (ie "I was really hammered and thought you were somebody else on a different board who is a mega racist"), then promise to correct whatever condition led him to make the post, like acknowledging the drinking problem, making an effort to cut back, etc. If he slinks away, this will follow him.
