This is what happens when someone comes along who is a serious political threat, not only to the opposing party but even to his own. This is why a Third Party candidate or Independent will never get elected in this country. Anyone strong who rises to the top and threatens the status quo of corruption perpetrated by both parties will be targeted and utterly destroyed.

Christie is not perfect by a long shot, but he is the only politician I've seen in the last 20 years who had the balls and no-nonsense attitude to win the Presidency and actually bring some positive change back to this country. He's hated by both his own party and the Dems, and they have both taken the opportunity with this insignificant so-called bridge scandal to completely destroy the man and preserve their own grip on power.

Both Christie and Hillary are taking their lumps right now. Both are the current frontrunners for 2016 so it's no surprise that their opposition are going for early knockouts.

Chris Christie is just an Anti-Gun Rino.

If that's what we're pushing in the Republican party today, let's just go ahead and amend the constitution to allow foreigners to hold the office. At least Arnold Schwarzenegger could announce he heard an important report at the gym without cracking up half the world. :|

I see nothing wrong with him being in the add. I suppose it's worth asking why they picked the more expensive vendor, but even that probably has a reasonable explanation. I've worked on a lot of state contracting proposals, and price competition is not always the selling point, because the contracting agency wants to obtain the best version of whatever it is, not simply the cheapest.

This is all just candidate vetting, and the earlier it happens, the better it is for Christie.

    ^ Spot on.

Also, TR's right, and you make points I agree with, BD, but I disagree with this:

"he is the only politician I've seen in the last 20 years who had the balls and no-nonsense attitude to win the Presidency"

In fact, I think it's the attributes from the opposite side of that coin that ultimately wins the Presidency - can't be too offensive to one of the sides (even Reagan had some fans on the left, plus, ya know, "not Carter"), and firmly entrenched in lowest common denominator-itis. Strong and opinionated will not win the US presidency in the Age of PC.

    Yep, this.

Man, what it must be like inside Blackdove's head.
    You can't win with him.
Ask no questions, you're a sheep who can't see the conspiracies, ask too many, you're "targeting for destruction", and therefore, part of the conspiracy.

Hey, BD, give us the scientific measurement of how many questions we can ask to be one of the good guys.

I like Christie, but I think his abrasive "New Jersey style" political demeanor is not what most of the country wants or expects in a president.

While being a governor is a good background for the presidency, people forget just how different the political dynamics at the state level and federal level can be.

For all his political talents, Bill Clinton was generally overwhelmingly elected in Arkansas (his two defeats were very narrow) yet as a presidential candidate with a raft of staggering advantages he could not break 50% either time. (yeah Perot is blamed for part of that but that is part of the overall point).

I guess Christie and Palin have something in common.

They both make the media shit themselves...this is only going to get worse. I eagerly await them discovering he cheated on a test in third grade...it will be easy to spot because CNN will have huge BREAKING NEWS banner and completely misleading inflamatory title.

Christie answers questions about the use of drones to kill terrorists: "You didn't see nuttin'. Fuhgedaboudit."

That's a bit of a stretch. Palin is a lunatic, absolutely not somebody qualified for higher office. Christie, on the other hand, is probably only a dick. So the media was absolutely right to go after Palin. Remains to be seen with Christie. If his dick status carries over in to evidence of serious corruption, then it's a legit issue. Otherwise, it should go away.

Do you even remember the attack stories that were coming out about Palin in the early days?

    Stuff about her kids.

Anything they thought they could drum beat into a scandal.

Most of the stuff that you are referencing has occured long after the election.

Hell, thanks to the media, most morons still think she said "I can see Russia from my house".

Well, that's as blatant an admission of media bias as we're likely to see.

First, it isn't the media's job to decide who's fit for office. The VOTERS do that.

Second, Palin was governor of a state, and a successful and popular one at that.

If you want to see who's NOT qualified for higher office, look no further than the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania, who has probably given Iraq to al-Qaida, an atomic bomb to Iran, Afghanistan to the Taliban, and the shaft to everyone buying their own insurance.

Those are some pretty wild claims there Paladin. I suppose you agree with Forbin that Hillary Clinton murders political opponents?

If Hillary had the stomach, liver, and kidneys to kill with her own two hands, I'd have a glimmer of respect for her.
