In a thread, Jenee asked a mod to copy private messages exchanged between her and garamet, but that's not possible without knowing the user's password, correct?
I don't see any options for doing it when you go to edit a user, but I wasn't sure if I was overlooking the button.
I would suspect that if it can be done at all, it has to be done at the server level and not at the XenForo admin panel. O2C or Amaris would know better, I should think.
I could've sworn we've had to do this once because Tasvir was being a twat in PM and/or the gturner sitch. @Order2Chaos ?
As an aside, is anyone else sick of Jenee and Garamet cripple fights? I don't even know why they're fucking pissed off now. It's not like Garamet dunks on His Holiness Bernie Sanders and his rabid fanbase or anything
Yeah, I'm not entirely sure what bug crawled up Jenee's ass about Garamet. I;'ve found Garamet doesnt' 'target' someone for her particular passive aggressive brand of trolling unless they give her reason to But then everyone's gotta deal with it when it starts scroll-wheeling threads.
I can do it, or could under vB. I haven’t investigated to see if it’s possible in XF, but I don’t think the software is different enough to make it difficult. It is or was done at the server-level, as Lanzman indicated, not forum software-level. I didn’t do it in the Tasvir case. Don’t know if anyone did. Certainly the metadata for all PMs is available to tech admins in any case; there’s no way around that. Oh, and unless there’s a damn good reason — IRL threats, and the like — I refuse to do it. I will not have the Tech Admin position be dragged into J&g’s stupid passive-aggressive slap fight, and the rest of the staff should probably stay out of it too, except maybe to corral it into a dedicated thread(s). One of them has something to prove, they can take a screenshot of their own PMs, removing the replies from the other person. Reminding them that revealing the contents of a PM sent to them (but not ones sent by them) without permission is strongly warnable, would not be amiss.
You can set up your user settings as a xenforo admin to login to any account without having their passwords.
