This is about control over women's bodies, it's about insecure men who can't tolerate the idea of women existing in any other form they consider acceptable. It's cowards who send male cops to attack women in bathrooms because they want to see if those women are "too masculine" or have a penis. This was never about the safety of women, it's not about the safety of women.

At the end of the day, Newsome's stance is a step in the right direction. Biological men playing women's sports is an anchor for the Democrats. People that are or lean liberal don't even support this en masse and it seems to be on the radar of arguably the most important voting block, women. These aren't fascists, these are parents concerned that their kids are going to get screwed over

It's not a lie that trans women have beaten biological women in sports and their biological advantages may have helped them in that regard

It's always the cover. Bigotry has always hidden behind the facade of decency, of just "caring" too much, whether it's about women or children. Abortion illegal? Oh, it's because they care about children. Black guys living in the same building as white women? Hey, we just care about family safety. Trans women just want to go to the bathroom? We just care about women.

That's all it's about.

It's a lie that this happens often enough for you to be worried about it.

Two things can be true at the same time.

It can be true that the trans sports issue was not a determining factor for general election swing voters in swing states.

It can also be true that it is a big enough issue among primary voting Californians that it can impact Newsome’s chance.

Not sure I agree with the later but it isn’t necessarily contradicting the former.

There are more kids with measles in Texas than every trans athlete in the country.

One of these is a made up issue.

All of it is intentional. Fascism is rooted in the idea that some people are more equal than others, and that it's all about protecting the core components: fixed gender roles, white birth rates, and racial segregation.

Anyone who enters any space to advocate against trans people in the name of "safety" and "fairness" are often people who are aware their bigotry would be seen as unacceptable, and so have to couch it in softer, more appealing terms. After all, who would be against the safety of women and children?

Yet the people causing the most havoc, engaging in dangerous tactics, are cisgender men in authority. This is, again, on purpose. There's no excuse for it, just like there was no excuse during Hitler's purges of Jewish people as threats against the "moral" Aryan peoples of Germany, or how members of the KKK pushed back against black people trying to vote by claiming they were immoral, and that civil rights workers trying to open up polls in black districts were seen as agitators and outside influencers. It has always been presented this way, this is how fascism works, and only a fucking idiot would take those fascist words at face value.
