No, being of above average intelligence I’m totally aware that there are asshole parents who force their kids into all kinds of things, sports being one. Thing is we weren’t discussing forced participation of sports, it was that bumbling idiot @Jenee who interjected that into the conversation for no reason whatsoever and now it’s somehow spiralled into me having no idea that something that obviously exists, exists Another wonderful Wordforge moment
Has it occurred to you that your phrasing directly implied the conclusion I drew? And that possibly you could have written something like "forced participation is not the issue at hand" rather than "That you think participation in sports is "forced" (implying directly that you do not) says a lot about your personality" would have avoided the misperception you now comment upon? Wordforge moment indeed.
I always thought it was like street addressing. Street number, street name, THEN town. The year is the town. Day and month are the citizens in the town.
Yep. It's only shorthand for "This is the __ day of the ___ month in the year ____." It also makes sense. Most people ask the date, they want to know the current day. Most people know it's a certain month or year, but it's still given in context. It's perfectly fine, Richard's just an old man yelling at clouds.
The first way is just the way most people speak in general terms. June 10; March 16; February 1. Then add a year. June 10, 1982. March 16, 2004. Feb 1, 1964. But, if you're writing or typing numbers, the correct way would be either DD/MM/YYYY or YYYY/MM/DD.
