Khoshenoggi wasn't killed! He's just doing a luggage quality control check, and to save time he's checking out several different brands of suitcases at the same time! He must be pretty thorough, because he still hasn't released his findings yet. I'm guessing Samsonite will end up being the best. Oh I almost forgot - I heard an NPR interview saying that even though we currently have a slight surplus and are exporting some oil, we don't have enough of a reserve supply built up in case we have a war or other emergency. That said if we keep exporting it we might never build up a reserve, but I guess you have to buy and sell according to the financial concerns of the stock market and whatnot. You finance savvy people might be able to explain that better than I ever could.
All partisanship aside (not because I am against it in general, but more because it's not really germane to my question), what kind of practical steps do you think could or should have been done to prevent this?
Probably better vetting of the people we choose to train here. Or, better yet, stop training them at all (though that's pretty unrealistic). Had this happened in 2014 instead of 2018, though, the Right would've been apoplectic about how Obama was somehow to blame.
I wonder if "better vetting" is even really possible in a case like this. I am all in favor of "stop training them at all", but as you say, not realistic. No doubt. The 2009 Ft. Hood shooting was screamed about pretty loudly as I recall.
