Riding on the "success" of her false rape-accusation, which the resulted in her mattress-project and porn-scene, Emma Sulkowicz is now going to give a TEDx-talk on Friday Neither Sulkowicz nor the TEDx organizers seem to have an ounce of shame in them.
Yeah, TED talks have gone the way of Nobel Peace Prizes. Crap, buried in crap, to convey crap. It's all just a slush fund at this point.
Her false rape accusation was pretty deplorable and, no, consensual sex which you later regret after the guy dumps you in the morning is not rape. It shows a real vindictive streak in her.
TED is run by TED, their events pay big bucks and cost big bucks, so they can attract top talent to their talks and most of the people who attend are fairly wealthy because that is who can afford the tickets. TEDx is the brand name they let just about any local licensed group use free of charge, ticket prices are often $10 or less (often free if someone sponsors), and they tend to mostly get locals or small time folks speaking. The best of TEDx also gets hosted on the TED site but clearly marked as not run by TED itself meaning much of it is not up to TED's standards. This means she got a small time local gig but the main parent group has not deemed her worth of one of their big time talks. They usually reserve those for folks who do large projects or innovative original research. Someone who falsely cries rape, then carries a mattress around with her every where as supposed performance art, and who then does porn just doesn't meet that standard.
Wait, that is her in the video? What a moron. To protest a rape she claims happened she makes a porn video, then post it on the internet, and then claims anyone who watches it without her permission is objectifying her? That is just sickeningly amazing.
I'm a bit unclear on what she is trying to say with that video. According to the release, it is not a rape, but looks like one? It looks completely consensual. What am I missing?
It honestly sounds like she thought she had a boyfriend, he thought he had a girl he could occasionally hook up with, for months afterwords she kept texting him saying she loved him, he kept blowing her off, and then finally he dumped her. She then got mad and claimed he had raped her. The campus police did a thorough investigation of all witnesses, found that her claims did not square with the facts as she reported them months later, so she protested claiming it was terrible thst they didn't automatically lock up a man she accused even if all the witnesses say her story didn't square with the facts, and then she decided to protest by carrying a mattress around every where and publicly begin a harassment campaign against the guy who had dared to dump her and whom she had vowed to get revenge on. Sadly, this sort of false accusations of rape thing seems to not be uncommon. I imagine examples of actual rape are more common but this liar is undermining all the real rape victims with her false rape claims to get even for an ex dumping her. Yet all the supposed feminist groups unquestioning ly supported her and started a systematic campaign to harass and defame her innocent ex which just goes to show how clueless and morally bankrupt the militant fourth wave feminism has become. Facts don't matter and all women must be believed without question even when all the witnesses and evidence (emails, texts, chat logs, etc...) say she is lying. The same thing happened in the Duke lacrosse case and that supposed fraternity gang rape which was later proved to never have happened. Yet certain groups always jump of these false accusations and treat them like they are true trumpeting them before silently slinking off when it turns out they were completely wrong.
That is one of the problems with rape. It brings the law into dating drama. You combine that with college and high school kids, rent a cops, and a bunch of school administration who are really guidance counselors with different titles and this is what you will consistently get. We may be able to do better, but considering the participants probably not.
If this is such a prevalent problem , there are laws on the books with punishments for lying about rape in most places, on top of the obstruction of justice charges. Me, I'm all for making an example of those manipulating the system because every liar makes it that much harder for the legitimate cases to be taken seriously.
BeamMe talks about "false" accusations, but Sulkowicz was one of three women that filed various rapey complaints against same guy. But clearly, they're all after his Cosby Show money, right?
Honestly, I don't know the specifics of Sulkowich's case, but at a bare minimum it seems tacky to ride a rape allegation, even a true one, to financial success for one's own film project. OTOH, as a society we've historically treated alleged victims as criminals shaming ones that speak up as sluts that had it coming somehow or liars if they didn't report the attack the minute the perp pulled out. We're finally giving women a voice, but I do think thing like this case and I Stand With Jackie is going to the other extreme and that's not any better for the cause, either.
And don't forget that one guy. And don't forget that the stories of Sulkowicz's friends all fell apart.
