The banned

I almost don't want to start this thread just because Dinner's clamoring about the damn subject again, but as one of the Horsemen now, I'm willing to grant amnesty to the Dearly Departed. That said, I shed no tears if consensus says gturner and Castle should pound sand.

If the Dearly Departed return (are gturner and Castle the only ones this really affects?), we'll need to be especially clear and open about what steps were are taking if they decide to share their brand of love. Honestly, we should be clear and open regardless who it is.

However, as I suspect I know what the outcome of this thread will be, it's really more of the formality of the discussion with a new owner on board.

It's more fun to watch them cry over at TK.

Starguard was unbanned. Right now only Castle and gturner are permabanned.

Keep 'em banned. The board is a better place with them gone.

gul tried that with castle. Didn't work. Only made it worse when he was banned a second time.

These fuckos like fucking up the board for everyone else. It's not some unintentional byproduct of there posting syle that they can stop with a little tweak caused by a new rule.

Posting volume may or may not be down (not a priority for me, BTW) but the threads are better and you don't have post after post of gtard's lying/flipping crap and post after post of people (many of whom should've known better) responding to it.

As for Castle: fuck no. Gturner is a fucking twat but his bot like posting aside, hes not an unhinged lunatic. He makes a few jokes about Turdforge and moved on to spamming up TK. I'd rather have him back before ever letting Castle back.

That said, if you wanna let gturner back, I've got not no problem with using the "ignore" feature now that I've stepped down. My only interest in banning him was because of his account sharing and frankly irritation that none of the people involved with that didn't trust *anyone* to bring it up. And I'd encourage all those who were on the " yeah he's a shit, but..." fence to do the same.

Unban them both, given that neither of them should have been banned to start with.

The only loss was Paladin and we don't know that it is permanent or that it was the gturner ban and not how it was handled/how Paladin felt treated by ownership*. Things have calmed down and settled into what to me at least is an improved groove.

gturner isn't going to change. The same behavior that led to his ban will lead to another one. And then we get to do this all over again.

*This is one of the dangers of letting them back knowing they will likely be banned again. You are just creating more future drama and potential conflict points.

I think neither of them warrant being let back in. I see no benefit for the board, as I too have seen the TK business. I vote for "stay gone".

If they were unusually disruptive, let them stay gone.

If you were unjustly jailed for jaywalking but while you're in jail you shank somebody, you're still gonna get the penalty for shanking, regardless of whether you should have been there in the first place or not.

Castle was banned for...reasons here, then he went over to TK to post gul and Chup's personal info. I thought the ban was bullshit, but i honestly can't blame any owner for putting the kabosh on his return after the last two years.

Castle's banning was pure bullshit, but his actions at TK following that napalmed the bridge.
As for gturner, that entire situation was a mess. His failure to PM one of the non-involved admins about the permissions mess and account sharing to verify said permissions mess didn't help his case, unfortunately. But his subsequent MO statement at TK...

I dunno how seriously to take that since he lies about everything else.

It's telling that he acted like a real human, posted spam for a week then stopped until a few TKers began giving him attention, then ramped back up. For the first time I've been posting there, Speak Freely has more activity than the Godawful Hellholes forum.

I'll support whatever decision you want to go with him. Best case scenario, we unban him and he stays over at TK. Win-win for everyone.

Agree, and oddly enough, TK is also a better place for it.

The resident TKers would disagree vehemently about that.
