It made Toby Keith a big star to flag waving, toothless morons and their red solo cups.

Toby Keith was a big country star well before then.

In fact his first #1 hit was fully eight years BEFORE 9-11.

And he had four albums out by then IIRC.

So I guess the 2,000+ deaths, 14 years of unceasing war and the loss of most of our personal freedoms are just a mere annoyance in comparison?

    unceasing war is major exaggeration.

loss of most of our personal freedoms is an outright lie.

But on the other hand if you combine both Iraq and Afghanistan as being a result one way or the other of 9-11 then the total American death toll would be around 7,000 IIRC. To say nothing of 3-400,000 Iraqis and Afghans.

So you see, @Mila , he was already a big star to those people.

I assume some of you know that Toby Keith was often seen as an "edgy, outside the box" entertainer? He recorded several songs such as "How Do You Like Me Now" that other country singers would not touch because they didn't like the tone.

The worst thing about 9-11 is having your date format the wrong way round...

I can't stand date format ambiguity. In oldfellaland it's 9 Sep. 2011.......6 Nov 1975, etc. etc. That way there is no doubt which number is the day and which is the month, if when it's early in the month and days can be misunderstood as months.
Granted if this was over two thousand years ago 8 March 8 could be viewed as the 8th of March in the year 8, but life sucked back then anyway.

That doesn't work, because once you start on the 13th day of the month, the number for the date is larger than whatever month it happens to be. The only way that would make sense, is if you skipped the date and just listed the day of the year and the year. Like this: 245/2013, which helps no one, because nobody knows what fucking day of the year it is without mentioning the month.

Sometimes at work I use the Julian/Ordinal date like 4057 is the 57 th day of the year 2014 for example.

Don't forget the fucking nitro boost it gave Fox News.
We'll be feeling the ripples of that for 200 fucking years, even after Fox is a defunct corporate entity, gobbled up and dismantled by TimeWarnerDisneyMonsantoGoogle.

Since they don't rule the world anymore and rely on us for protection, I guess they have to stick their noses in the air and sniff at our date formats and measurement systems to feel relevant.

The Iranian hostage crisis begat Nightline, and Gulf War I created CNN. Once upon a time, FOX may actually have been a news station. Like most human institutions, it started out with the best of intentions and then went corrupt.

But next weekend - Cosmos! :squee:

CNN was around long before the first Gulf War and they were already covering meaningless shit like the kid who fell down the well in the late 80s.
