This is why I get annoyed with Democrats so often. They want to communicate their displeasure with Donald Trump? Forget the idiotic color coordinating during the state of the union. Push actual policy that rejects his fascism. Set up legislative roadblocks that make him have to work even harder to get his bullshit passed. Speak to people directly about what Trump is doing to them. I mean, if I had legislative power and I chose to show it by holding a little sign that had a frowny face during the president's address, I'd be an incompetent dumbass, and even that is more than what these people are doing. They have legislative power, they have political influence, they have the support of their constituents. FUCKING DO SOMETHING THAT ISN'T MERELY EMPTY SYMBOLISM IN THE FACE OF FASCISM. Exclusive: Dozens of Democratic Congresswomen Plan To Wear Pink to Trump’s Joint Address to Congress https://time.com/7264001/trump-congress-democrats-pink/ Now excuse me while I engage in interpretative dance to stop the onslaught of climate change.
Remember when cabaret dancers kicked really high, and Hitler dropped dead? Ah, those were good times. Think they made a movie about it.
The only one who has had a spine at this point is Rep. Al Green (D-TX), who stood up, shouted that Trump did not have a mandate and had no right to cut Medicaid, before he was removed by the Sgts at Arms. The rest of them seem to be holding little signs and acting like they're clever for it. No one gives a shit. No one is impressed as they sit silently holding a little sign while Trump just lies to thunderous applause.
No way I'm watching that shit show. As someone said on social media, Biff giving the state of the union is like an arsonist updating you on the progress of the fire he set in your house.
I'm subjecting myself to it so I can hear his lies firsthand. I always prefer firsthand information whenever possible. He called being trans a big lie, and that the US will no longer have "woke" people. So I suspect we're only seeing the first wave of anti-trans legislation from the Trump admin. I'm not worried, though, the Democrats have their little signs.
The Democrats are now leaving after the cameras are no longer watching them, and they're doing so quietly as if not to interrupt Trump's acts of "generosity." The Dems were a net benefit for Trump tonight. They're the Neville Chamberlains of US politics. They are useless and feckless. Except for Al Green (D-TX), who spoke up loudly.
The best way to leave an event like this isn't yelling or making a scene, or sneaking out, it's just to conspicuously walk out like you're halfway through a shithouse movie you just can't take any more. Don't make the story about how you could do nothing more than ineffectually yell or hold up a sign, but about how you were just so sick of his shit that you didn't see a point in hanging around. A continuous stream of people getting up and leaving, but in a way that challenges him to try and pretend he isn't noticing and getting distracted by it, is more powerful than getting ejected and giving Trump and Co a ruckus to gather round and give time to gather thoughts and frame a response.
If I was a Dem in Congress, every time the camera went near me I'd roll my eyes and make a jerk off motion. Trump would probably have a stroke.
it's construction quality softwood... so spruce/pine/fir, which to the best of my knowledge are pretty much the opposite of endangered.
Hell, Hakeem Jeffries probably objected to even that much. They're such useless representatives, at least for the people who vote them in. I'm sure they represent their corporate interests very well. Again, except for Al Green (D-TX) who absolutely did it right.
Same I got through most of it, fast forwarded through some. I was trying to remember what MJT and Robert said during Biden's address.
Oh yeah Classless https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...en-boebert-marjorie-taylor-greene/9337266002/
Sadly, the court gave him something of an out by saying he doesn't need to adhere to the Federal judge's timeline if it's unfeasible. It's unfeasible because Musk dismantled USAID and other US agencies that would handle the dispersal of the funds. So they'll likely pull the "we're working with all possible speed" shit whilst doing fuck all.
Holy shit, that's supposed to be a legal filing from the highest court in the country? I've seen posts on Wordforge that are more scholarly.
