The four episodes so far have been great fun. It's based on a best-selling book that also spawned a high-popular telenovela.
Just finished "Stranger Things" on Netflix. A great ride, highly recommended if you like that 80's style storytelling
Season 2, episode 8 of Fear the Walking Dead comes on tonight. Am I looked forward to it? Good question. I want to see if the suck continues.
My daughter loves it, but lives far away, and I don't have Netflix. I used my son's Netlix account via his PlayStation but he moved out a few months ago. If it ever comes out on DVD I might check it out.
I'm not big on sitcoms much any more but I admit curiosity about "Son of Zorn" Other stuff on my list: Luke Cage (duh) Timeless (watch the trailer, it's amazing) https://www.youtube.com/watch?annot...07GpVPJ60KJ&src_vid=UMf24rEsMOs&v=4glJzvUunOE Frequency (don't want to be left behind if it turns out they do something deep with the premise) Falling Water (USA has scored before with innovative genre shows and it has a good pedigree) Dirk Gently...(based on Douglas Adams books? Nuf said) Returning must watch shows for me: The Flash (can't wait to see how Barry fucked things up with their take on Flashpoint) Arrow (can't watch part of Berlanti-verse without watching all of it) Supergirl (ramping it up by including Cuz, plus everything from Miss Martian to Mon-El!) Legends of Tomorrow (will Rip Hunter ever become a good captain? How many other DC names-you-know will turn up?) Curious about: No Tomorrow Black Mirror (still need to take in the previous season (seasons?)) Gotta say, the list seems incomplete unless there are some that are not showing until next year. I know there's "Time After Time (which I'll watch because I loved the movie) and "Making History" (which looks stupid as hell) and Sleepy Hollow is still on so ...I'm sure I'm forgetting several. Not io9's best work.
The dark horse potential ratings juggernaut none of you losers even thought about. But the time is right for a reboot of that classic from decades past: the test pattern...in HD.
SWEET! This is what I need to get my endorphins flowing before my daily workout. My DVD player is not working so my DRYING PAINT (narrated by Al Gore) DVD is just collecting dust on my shelf at this point.
First episode of Son of Zorn is on Hulu...pretty fun. In sort of a Adult Swim sort of sense of humor. Also watched Designated Survivor last night, which there's a thread on so I'll defer to that. But I do want to brag on the tv version of Lethal Weapon Y'all, IMO it was GOOD. Both independently and when compared against the original. The humor and the pathos felt just right, and had the requisite smatter if movie-style action. The guy playing rigs isn't a Mel Gibson clone, they made him a Texan, but he very neatly captures the vibe of Martin Riggs in the films. Damon Wayons is less ideally cast, sometimes you see him when you should be seeing Murtaugh, but at other times he's worthy of the part. The had a tough job here and I say they pulled it off. At least for one episode. I'll probably start a separate thread actually.
Victoria is very good. Jenna Coleman from Doctor Who plays Queen Victoria. The final episode of the first season episodes airs tonight.
Mostly the usual suspects, but I'm especially looking fowward to the JSA story in DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
Has anyone watched Pitch, about the first woman in Major League Baseball? If so, what's your take? I've seen one episode so far, and it looks decent.
I haven't, but the world record for a woman throwing a baseball overhand is 82 mph (some say 77 mph). 82 mph is average for 17-year old male pitchers, whereas 77 mph is average for 16-year olds.
Watched it, liked it, don't get hung up on the "realism" angle. I can point out a healthy dose of "unrealistic" in virtually every show out there.
Nova gotta watch John Adams miniseries on bluray. Lots of historic sites in that series anything historic like game of thrones, highlander or caprica gotta go HD.
ITV also has a mini-series called "Tutankhamun" with Sam Neil about the discovery of Tut's royal tomb. It's very good.
Some details about it. Gotta say that it looks like Dawson's Creek: 2017, but there's more details at the link, and it might lead to some gritty story telling.
Mid-seasons stuff that caught my eye: Emerald City - premiered Friday, will watch it later tonight Series of Unfortunate Events - next week on Netflix, gotta try anything with NPH Riverdale - as mentioned above Powerless - has been reworked, not a huge fan of sitcoms anymore but has Alan Tyduk so ... Iron Fist - March 17, Marvel show on Netflix? I'm in. The Handmaid's Tale - April 26 on Hulu American Gods - April. Bryan Fuller's epic that distracted him from Trek Star Trek Discovery - speaking of... Twin Peaks - since I'm just copying the list at the link, might as well include this. I'd have to re-watch the original to remember whether I care. http://io9.gizmodo.com/the-ultimate-guide-to-2017s-scifi-fantasy-and-superhe-1790808231
well we don't KNOW Thomas Wayne didn't have a brother...or a cousin (which would make Van like a 3rd cousin but still) On another note, ASoUE got a rave review on NPR for what that's worth
I just watched the January 20 episode of Blue Bloods on CBS online. It was terrific. It's Blue Bloods. But this one had Sharon Lawrence Yes, Sharon Lawrence, from NYPD Blue, was on Blue Bloods. And here she is. Sharon Lawrence on Blue Bloods. Way to go, guys.
