How the fuck have you got to your age without realising that those peoples opinion of lawyers is that they are a necessary evil at best?

That's not to denigrate people like El Chup, but when it comes to defending people who are guilty and stuff like that I wouldn't think most people think it's good they are fully defended, but rather it is right they are because that's what everyone deserves.

He can use whatever book of magic words he wants, but when he tries to suggest that mutually consented behavior without externalities is less moral than imposed behavior with harmful externalities, he is clearly full of shit and probably nuts.

Oh, sod off with that bullshit. You were little more than Enterpriser Junior, trying to skirt the line and piss off as many people as possible and get away with it. You'd pull that same shit here, if any of us gave two fucks about your stupidity anymore. T'Bonz would have to be stupid to let you back in. :jayzus:

    You're damn right.

I wanted people who had different opinions than me to get pissed off, do something stupid and get banned.

No argument. Because I want my opinion to be the predominant one.

And I want my vision of Star Trek to be the one that gets made.

why should I give a damn about what people that I don't know and don't care about want?

IIRC, you are a ghost hunter BD. Thus you believe in that part of a person (dare I say 'soul") survives the death of the corporeal body of a human.

Thus you believe in life after death.

You won't realize or admit it, but you are strongly flirting with religion there.

I don't think Jesus would approve of that attitude.

I'm curious as to why you even bother calling yourself a Christian? Is it because you hope to run for a political office one day?

And you realize that your vision of Star Trek will never happen, right?

    1) I doubt Jesus cares too much about Star Trek though I could be mistaken.

    2) Some dreams never die.

    3) Depends a lot on how high the office doesn't it.....

No, you're wrong as usual. It has nothing to do with religion in any way. To label it as such is jumping to a conclusion, when the truth is we really don't know what it is.

What do you think it is? I would assume that if you're spending time (and money probably) that you have at least a basic opinion or a range of thoughts on the subject.

If ghosts exist then doesn't that mean in life (or at least consciouness which is effectively the same thing) after death? And doesn't that at least imply a great deal more?

So tell me Dayton, does this get you hot?

Though I think Black Dove is likely nuts on this issue, it's not hard to understand how a non-religious case can be made for ghosts. In fact, it's incredibly easy to do, simply by stipulating that there are things that exist beyond the confines of human perception. Black Dove's version of faith is not religious, he seeks to use science to expand human perception to where it can see and understand ghosts. The desire is to reach a place that no longer requires faith.

The difference between the kind of faith that leads somebody to investigate the paranormal and the kind of faith that leads somebody to your particular version of religion, is that Black Dove doesn't seek to impose his faith on others, whereas you do. Lots of Christians understand and respect this -- Async and Nova are both prominent examples here at Wordforge, of Christians who seek to teach and persuade, but have no interest in imposition. You, on the other hand, want to enforce your twisted values on the rest of us.

I don't think anyone (including my wife or parents) would ever describe me as "warm & cuddly" BD.

In point of fact, things that "get me hot" have little to do with things of the flesh either sexual in nature or violent in nature. I get excited over ideas. Over concepts. I love reading. I love reading about new ideas. Especially those involving technology, philosophy or practical methodologies.

Now in fact, in college (years before I met my wife) I was planning to go out with a girl I graduated with from high school She was tall and with an amazing figure. Sexy by any means. She told me to call her.

    I never did.

Though she was extremely attractive (and pretty smart too) she seemed to me to be rather shallow and vacuous. So I never bothered. We remain casual acquaintances to this day.

You just said that you didn't want to hear about opinions that were different to yours, and that you wanted those voicing them to be unable to.

The fact he hit his wife alone would probably end a political career before it began.

Like anyone is going to believe something posted on the internet.

Besides I need a few "skeletons in the closet". Otherwise my personal life is so pure white that no one would ever believe it and think I had it sanitized or that I was just boring as hell.

Ironically, as a teacher I have a hugely mean, violent reputation (with a temper) that is completely unjustified. I haven't been in an altercation since I broke up a fight after a football playoff game three years ago when some townies jumped my players.

Uh, yeah they are. It's your own blog, linked directly to your personal life. You mention the towns and schools you work for and talk openly about people we could easily find.

If you ever want to get into politics, you're fucked.

Not really. I'm familar with programs and consultants you can specifically hire to go in and sanitize or modify your internet information.

And that is just today. Imagine what people can do 10 years from now.

If Edwards can hide an ongoing affair and a pregnant mistress until a major election is over, I would imagine nearly anything can be altered.

Unless someone is "saving everything I've posted to disc" which I sincerely doubt. No one respects or fears me enough for that.

Although back in my TrekBBS days, someone said they saved a parody thread that someone started about a hypothetical version of my life called "Not a Folger's Morning: A Day In the Life of Dayton3".

    Sure. Why not?

I deny it. My wife denies it. No one in my extended family recalls hearing anything about it so they deny it.

Media jumps on it and it looks like an internet based smear campaign.

I pick up sympathy support on the other side of it.
