Only reason right now is Per Pound Cost To Low Earth Orbit. If that were at say $5 a pound, I'd be looking through the Real Estate section pricing apartments at Luna City.
I agree that it's sad that we've lost our collective will for space, I just can't see any way for NASA to be wrenched from it's bureaucratic malaise. The history of exploration is populated by great personal visions, or competitions between great powers. We seem to have neither at the moment, and it's a bit depressing.
My dad keeps saying "The U.S. won't do anything about its space program until China or Europe put a man on the moon. Then we'll say "Oh shit!" and start working on math and science again, and work our backs off to beat them, just like in the 60's." What do y'all think of that?
Evenflow is Talcahuano's dad? Anyways, perhaps we'll get more serious when China starts picking off American satellites one by one
Nebulous? The Mooninite people need Wal-Mart and Microsoft to lift them out of their dreary moon world......
That Book was key to getting the voyage going - if Columbus had been interested in spreading "The Word"...and convinced the hyper religious Queen on that point, he probably would never have sailed for Spain.
Obama may have shifted his position. The wording's a bit vague, but it reads better than the previous statement.
According to this NPR story, Obama's stance hasn't been made exactly clear on the space program. There's still some question as to what he'll do with the Constellation program, and his campaign didn't provide anyone to comment on the story.
Not only does Obama want to cut NASA's budget, but he also wants to spend another trillion simply to combat poverty. I wonder where the 'fuck' that kind of money is supposed to come from. Next up for cuts is the military. Watch.
Eh? There is a shit load of other pork that can be cut from the budget first....rather than screwing NASA over.
I still say we ought to build somewhere for the Bridge to Nowhere to go to. I mean, if you're gonna blow the taxpayers' money, you gotta think big.
Are some of his positions changing from day to day here? After this type of bs he speaks about how parents need to take responsibility for their childrens education and that money will not solve the problem.
No kidding. They could also allow NASA to make money by selling space on the various probes. Bet folks would pay to have their cremains placed on a probe to Mars or where ever. They're certainly paying to have them sent into orbit.
