What Baba said. While I still enjoy the characters and the dialogue and stuff, the show is very repetitive. How many times can House go the brink before falling into the abyss? Every time, it seems.
While I never watched regularly, I decided to stop watching when House came up with the miracle answer while he was looking at a fucking urinal. Something to do with iron or lack of or whatdafuckevah.
House is a sexual, racial and religious harresment suit too and the hazing he does to new staff is lawsuit too.
House is a good show. But you only need to watch the last 10 minutes of each episode. The rest almost every episode is 1) Patient manifests odd symptoms. 2) House's staff suggests treatments that make everything worse. 3) House then suggests a treatment that makes everything worse. 4) House's staff suggests a treatment that makes everything worse. 5) Patient about dead. Now the last 10 minutes. 6) House reaches deep for an obscure diagnosis that allows the successful treatment of the patient.
That's just the procedural formula for the show. The true entertainment is watching the characters interact, and House's devious new ways of abusing his staff. I'm not surprised about the cancellation, though. The ratings have been slipping over the years, and FOX has been desperately trying to cut the show's costs. They requested that the cast all take a pay cut for this season, but Lisa Edelstein said no and left. I hate to admit, but while the show is still good, it's definitely lacking without the House/Cutty dynamic. Foreman is just not the same.
I've always hated Foreman anyway. I liked Cutthroat Bitch the best out of all of House's subordinates. Too bad they killed her off.
Never had the slightest interest in this show. I'd rather watch old Doctor Who and my Dexter DVDs. Now there'll be some more Walking Dead in the lineup, too.
You're right of course. Though the "medical mystery" aspect does hook some of us. For the rest, I think the problem is just how long can you watch a guy a total bastard to the people around him before they say "the hell with him"? But yeah, part of it was wondering just why Cutty and Wilson could be nice to the guy.
The "medicine" on House is horrible. The only reason to watch that show is to watch Hugh Laurie play an asshole for an hour. That got old, for me, during the 3rd Season.
There's a website where a doctor assesses the show's medicine every week. Yeah, there's a lot of bullshit.
^ I'm a bit surprised that blogger said nothing about all the inaccuracies about asexuality from the "Better Half" episode. People who normally complain about how inaccurate the show is were saying "See? House said asexuality is a disease/doesn't exist, so it must be true!"
There was a lot of discussion of that at TBBS from asexual people. Come to think about it, not very surprising that there are a lot of asexual Trek fans.
