Ouch. Yeah, that one hurt. I guess The Mrs. & I are bad luck charms, as we were there in person. Mizzou simply got outclassed at the line of scrimmage. On offense, Mauk often had zero time to find receivers, and we couldn't sustain much of a running game. On defense, we didn't generate nearly as much pressure as usual. I know they lost one OL starter early on, and I think the Center was playing hurt as well. Still, we'd have won the game if not for that stupid Pass Interference penalty that gave the Hoosiers new life. Up to that point, we'd held them, the pass was uncatchable, and we should've taken over on downs and run out the clock. Instead...well, you saw the final score. Ugh! This significantly lowers my expectations for the Tigers. They'll likely lose the next two (@S Car, vs Georgia), and Florida after that won't be easy (although I think the Gators are overrated). Kentucky is tougher this year, @Texas A&M will be a loss, and who knows about Arkansas. The only guaranteed win left on the schedule is Vandy. Gonna have to surprise somebody in order to become bowl-eligible....
All I heard last year was HOW BAD the Big10 was and how good everyone else was, (Especially the SEC), then an ACC team wins it all. I know the Buckeyes are gonna suck thanks to pussy ass Braxton Miller. Aw he got a boo boo on his shoulder.
I would have @Tex partake in the bet for tonight's game, but I can't in good conscience make anyone take the side of the Lubbock Fighting Dumpster Fires. That said the game is on Thursday night and Thursday night games in Stillwater always come with a certain amount of drama so it will probably be closer than it should be.
For once, it's a good day to be from Mississippi. The wheels may fall off in the 2nd half, but I'm actually flabbergasted at how Auburn is manhandling LSU.
Would anyone care to enlighten me about something? As the season stands now, Auburn has played or will have played seven top 25 teams, with three of those games being top 10 opponents. Florida State has played or will have played two top 25 teams. And they're #1 because?
I agree that Auburn should be ranked #1 right now, based on this season's results. It takes a little while for the voters to get caught up. Florida St., is ranked #1 the polls because they have won 21 straight games, and they defeated Auburn in last season's National Championship game. The AP Poll does a good job of ranking the teams. It has Florida St., ahead of Auburn by two points, out of 60 voters. The Coaches Poll is less accurate throughout the entire Top 25. There isn't that much difference in the two teams schedules so far. Auburn has played Kansas St., and LSU. Florida St. has played Oklahoma St., and Clemson. However, Auburn will have plenty of opportunity to show what they've got. They still have to play Mississippi St., Mississippi, Texas A&M, Georgia and Alabama; while the only ranked team left for Florida St., is Notre Dame.
Well a victory over one of those two carries more weight than SEC competition. Seriously, why would you want to be ranked number one?
I'm certainly going to have to disagree with you there. I don't, really. I'm quite happy with number two. My problem is with the way things are figured. #1: We all know no team is the same year to year, even with many of the same players. The FSU team that won the National Championship last year is gone. This year's team is not that team. Winning x number of games is a row, over multiple seasons, is a wholly meaningless number. Full stop. #2: It's easy for a mediocre team to rack up an impressive start to the season when they're playing High School quality teams. The Citadel is, quite literally, a Junior College! Syracuse, Wake Forest, and Boston College have no business being Div I teams. #3: I think the polls are still fundamentally broken and a bad idea for anything outside of bragging rights. The change to the end of the season is welcome, but it's still a half measure in my eyes.
I don't have a dog in this fight, but every time I hear a broadcaster shorten the Florida State team name to 'noles, I want to stab them repeatedly. With a lamp post.
Don't forget to make your picks in the College Pick-em Game. http://games.espn.go.com/college-football-pickem/2014/en/group?groupID=27812
MS State at #1!?!!?!?? (and Ol Miss at #3) What fucking sorcery is this? I feel like I'm in an episode of Sliders [I'm not a follower of college football but this is tough to ignore]
Well that sucked, but to be honest, I don't think with our D we deserve to be a top 10 team, much less top 4.
Anybody else see the 79 yard reception turn in to a 99 yard TD in the Oregon-Utah game? http://m.espn.go.com/ncf/story?storyId=11845079&src=desktop Deserves a big
Oregon. And Oregon State, just for a decent Civil War (If Oregon State wins Civil War this year, Oregon's doing it wrong.) Besides, if religion were a determining factor in team loyalty, I'd be rooting for BYU.
