Reading the Wikipedia entry, the plot sounds like a "Man on Fire" kind of thing, which is right up my alley.
HA! No compound bow this time - Rambo is kicking it old school with a traditional bow. It could be a Bear Kodiak but I can't be sure. That said exploding arrows aren't all that great - or maybe my neighbors are just being pricks!
Should've ended it at Rambo. John Rambo's war was over and he finally went home. That was a good conclusion for the movies. Other than the use of the knife and the bow, Stallone's character in the preview doesn't really seem to connect much to the established Rambo character. He could be any rancher. I guess we'll see when he's pushed too far if his response is consistent with the Rambo from earlier movies.
It looks like it is going back to the roots of first blood where it is on American soil with a veteran pushed too far? I have to admit the style change looks decent. If it goes back to the first blood thing it might be a bit better than the rambo kills an entire foreign army thing. I don't fully mind the rambo movies for being a decent action movie so I am up for it. I like the Stallone kicks ass thing so it is worth it for me to see. I will probably do it at home though. I don't see any reason to rush to the theater for this. I wonder if he will train the next Osama bin laden in this one like he did in the afganistan one.
I never saw any of the expendables movies. I don't watch action movies unless they are comedies spoofing action movies.
Um...Expendables and Fast & Furious are that....unintentionally....although I suspect F&F is doing it on purpose now.
I don't see F&F being a parody so much as a full embrace of the ludicrous action film genre. Since realism (logic, reason, physics) is often subordinated in this genre, why not dispense with it altogether?
Sure, though that was at least physically possible as it was a real stunt. Some of the stuff in F&F is comic book level fantasy.
If you’ll recall, they ran the film backwards in the middle of the jump while a slide whistle played.
WAB's travel tip #145: Avoid the F&F ride at Universal Studios. It sucks. The best thing about it was the actual ride attendant who posed as some kind of computer hacker while you were waiting on line. He was funnier than all the actors combined.
Exhibit A for why the Roger Moore films are not the most fondly remembered. (Though I still love Roger Moore and his Bond films.)
They calculated that jump on a super computer. The ramp had to be measured perfect, and the car had to be hollowed out of practically everything but the motor to have the right weight ratio to flip.
