No, that's the strawman, but that's not what I feel. Think more along the line of cigarettes. Are cigarettes evil? No, they're stupid. And the people who consume them are stupid. Are cigarette executives evil? Oh, fuck yes. Ditto their lawyers and lobbyists. If beefaroni had the death toll of cigarettes, Chef Boyardee would be erased from history. But tobacco embedded itself deep into our culture early on, so its been a miserable slog to dig their roots out. That's all tobacco ever had over beefaroni. Squatters rights. And that's all guns have over tobacco. Longer squatters rights. If there never was a gun, and I invented one tomorrow, and immediately blasted someone's face off with it, it'd be banned, the blueprints burned, and I'd be busting rocks in Leavenworth. But because our ancestors were fresh off a revolution, and had a residual murder boner, we're stuck with this high fatality consumer product. It's almost funny if you look at it right.
A person is not responsible for the actions of others he had nothing whatsoever to do with. "You're guilty because of the color of your skin" is about as hatefully racist a position as I can imagine. Blood guilt is a tribal thing, not aporopriate in a civilized society.
A fine saying if spoken in a vacuum. Our history, however, precludes such things from happening because one particular color has dominated society, and has pushed all of the other colors down, and now they want to forget about it? It's awfully convenient for one specific color to suddenly call for peace and equality while still holding all of the power. That is a lesson I had to learn before I understood the complexity underneath it.
It's like a boxing match where one of the boxers didn't agree to be punched, and after being turned into salsa for 12 rounds, they're expected to "keep it classy and respectful".
Do you want peace and equality, or do you want to settle a score with Whitey? If it's the latter, then the cycle continues. "People with my skin color have been historically mistreated by people with your skin color. The remedy is not peace and equality, it's for us to punish those with your skin color even though they as individuals never did us wrong."
I laughed and said a Muslim terrorist got what he had coming when he stepped into the street to attack innocent people but got run over by a car instead. So as usual, you are both a fool and a liar.
Do you not realize how fucked up that is? "Yeah, I laughed and said a Muslim kid deserved to die, but that doesn't mean I advocated the death of a Muslim kid!"
That is because like every other far left identitarian John is a racist. That is why he constantly espouses that vile racist ideology. All while constantly projecting his own failures and hatred upon other people, of course.
MLK wasn't trying to overthrow the government, nor did he prevent there being racial violence. Therefore as an example of a 1) peaceful 2) overthrow of government (which is what he was raised as) he meets neither criteria
Yes, absolutely. You have an appalling track record of interventions in other countries' internal affairs and one which in no way is justified even by claims of well intentioned impartiality.
I'm yet to be sold on a time you did it or tried. US approval rests on US interests, not those of the "liberated" nation and I can't think of a single instance which bucks that trend, much less did it without being a disaster.
Let me get my crayons. According to the right wing of the US using the law and legitimate elections to remove trump from power due to his unpopularity and violations of the law is clearly a coup and not just a corrupt and unpopular criminal leader being removed from power by the law of the land. The new definition of coup is just when another faction comes into power and you do not like it, and that was backed and put into place by the republicans in the US and their russian puppetmasters.
"Essentially, white, wealthy, privileged men write who gets to be offended and incensed, and who has to just live with it" - Amaris really? Then why are so many people who are not in the demographic of "white wealthy privileged" always offended & incensed over anything that doesn't seem politically correct? Asking for a friend!
in other words we can only consider the negative aspects of our nation's history when it's time to consider (or not consider) race & color, because that fits the leftist narrative. Got it!
You're the kind of guy who mutters "I don't know, freedom from slavery? You're welcome!" every time a black person gets vocal about how white people have screwed them over, aren't you?
Oooh ooh! Walk us through what leftist eyes see! Is it like what Ice King sees with his cursed crown on?
that wouldn't make sense considering I wasn't alive when slavery in the US ended so I can't take credit helping to end it, nor can I take blame for participating in slave ownership. Not likely my ancestors either since odds are they came across the pond after slavery was abolished.
Everything you want to see and nothing you don’t. You get to create your own reality. Just ask @Tererun and @Amaris , they live in a completely different reality than the rest of the world.
