It makes sense from a christian perspective given the season was meant to encompass a bunch of holidays and events coming around that time of year. It is the christian way to take over all the holidays including the season of lights and make them all merry christmas.

As interesting as all this is, and as much as I appreciate the damage this will do to his numbers in the next election, I cannot really give them any actual credit for a backbone at this point. The guy had a reputation as a rich playboy who had no problem with cheating on his wives, going around with hookers, doing business with crime bosses, and being very non religious. Trump was never religious at all, and I am pretty sure he held religious people in contempt for their hokey morals. This is a man who looked down upon working america and the bible belt with contempt and disdain. He was the worst stereotype of the northern yankee.

They backed him, and they gave no real opposition to his election. Now all of a sudden it is too much for them? Thanks for waking up, but what type of slime are you that it took you this long to say something? These evangelicals are stained with his shit and they are going to own this for the rest of history. Let us not whitewash these people like we did with nice slave owners and the founding fathers. Let us remember these people are without moral conviction. The next time someone asks how an atheist or non christian can have morals without the word of the bible we should tell them the people who owned the word of the bible never had any morals to begin with because they backed this fool.

This season's writers are really stretching for plot ideas.

I am reminded that we do not have legacy or a birthright to thank for this. We have the trumpanzees who love every minute of this.

I am hoping impeachment and a new election bring in a new and better cast.

As on point as the Christianity Today editorial was we still have to remember that 99.9999% of evangelicals will back him in 2020. When you are that steeped in political ideology you really have no other option than to double down on the clown that brought you there.

As much as I am angered by this, it is not the first time, nor is it the worst thing our armed forces have done in defense of this country and been honored for it.

Certainly it isn’t, but I want to take a moment to recognize that little girl’s life had value, meaning, that she existed before this coward murdered her.

As a matter of fact, I do.
In a political sense, not in some metaphysical sense.
Being hated is not evidence of being unfairly hated. If your uncle molests you as a child, and you hate him for it - does he have cause to feel wronged?
If you watch a soldier gun down an innocent child and you hate him for it - what does he have to bitch about?

Trump has incited, deliberately, suffering and even death to an extent it will take years to calculate, empowered to do so by his party and his voters who love him precisely BECAUSE he does so. What grounds do they have to say "Why do you hate us so?!!?"

Moreover, THEY hate liberals and for political disagreements of far less objective moral impact. What is the greater offense against human decency? Borders that are not as fully secure as you would prefer, such that they allow undocumented workers to come to Mississippi and pluck chickens in harsh conditions for too little money? Or traumatizing children for life by stripping them from their families and holding them in cages like livestock? One of these things warrants a difference of political opinion, the other warrants open animosity. This isn't complicated.

Even if you do hate the other side one has to realize the reasons make a difference.

The right openly tries to harm people. They make policy that actually harms people physically and mentally. You mention immigration, and there is also taking away medical care from people. You have openly prejudicial laws and policies that have damaged black, female, non christian, hispanic, muslim, glbt, and other lives. They take away voting rights, privacy, money, power, food, children, health care, and the right not to be molested by police and authorities.

What things has the left taken away? Your ability to use the word nigger as a racial slur? Your ability to harass GLBT, women, brown people, non christians, and other nationalities at work? Some places where you can buy a firearm without much enforced security?

There is a huge difference between confronting harassing, unsafe, and offensive actions and actually making policy that harms other people physically, emotionally, economically, and mentally. They want to equate allowing there to be civil penalties for using slurs slurs and allowing segregation, slavery, and open sexism and gender discrimination.
