"The best Terminator sequel since T2" is kinda damning with faint praise.

Still, I'm gonna make the effort to see it today.

I just got back from it.

    Blows 3, 4, & 5 away, still not as good as T1 & T2.

Put it this way, it's as good as a non-Cameron director can possibly humanly make.
Cameron has a special magic that can't be re-created.
Like Cap's shield, or the Lazarus pit.

Mirrors what I've been hearing. John Campea said it was pretty good.

I'm seeing it in a couple hours.

    Pleasantly surprised.

It's pretty entertaining. Best Terminator sequel directed by someone not named James Cameron.

Not life-changing, but a worthy sequel.

    7.0/10.

Yep 7 out of 10. Can't believe how oven roasted Hamilton is though. Not that she was a looker to begin with but...

Lots of cigarette smoking. Damages the skin. You can hear it in her voice, too.

She also had to drop a lot of weight for the role, she said.

Just got around to this. Really enjoyed it.

    It’s not T2, but that’s a high bar.

Just saw this and I liked what they did with it. I liked how they pushed it out of sarah's hands while showing a different side of what she goes through. The only thing that failed was when Sarah met Carl. He was the one who finally got John. He was the one who made her life shit and took away her son. They skimmed over that way too easily, but I guess they had to since they were all being chased by the upgrade.

Iguess we don't get to see all of the "Kyle" character in these movies, but I did want to see a bit more about this version of him. I liked that it was not the same exact situation as kyle and sarah, and how in the new situation the same sort of protective relationship developed because the sarah character saved them in the future.

Other than that I think this version really called back to the essence of T2 and T1. Right down to the end where they were left facing that horrible monster with basically nothing, and had to use the machines around them to kill him and also sacrifice the Kyle character in the end.

I know the box office says fail and money may not like what the movie did, but I say it held to the themes of the original without copying them directly. I think it became a movie of our time and updated itself based on modern technology while retaining the themes of the old. That still plays into the same theology of are we destined to do the same thing because of fate, or is the future open because we will fight for it? That is really the huge question in a time travel movie and this one kept the original ideas going in a current context.

I just watched this on prime and it wasn’t bad. It’s definitely better than 3 and Genesis, but I’m in the minority that I likes Salvation. You just can’t beat the first two, but I liked this one and I liked the new Terminator and his new powers.

Salvation WAS what the fandom wanted until Christian Bale's ego made him demand to play connor.

Since I do not have automatic christian Bale hatred I actually enjoyed salvation. It is not T2, but it goes along pretty decently.

Oh, I think Salvation is the best terminator film since 2. I enjoy it. It just felt like the inclusion of so much John Connor dragged the film down. Having John at the opening raid scene then him at the end of the film for a team up final action scene was all we really needed. I put some of this on McG too. Marcus being a terminator was an interesting twist...ruined by his execution being the opening scene.
