I only read half of it, finding it so full of intellectual dishonesty that it wasn't worth continuing. What do you think about the way Goodman compares recession era increases with expansion era? Does that make sense to you as valid? What about the way he suggests alternative explanations for the trend of lower increases, without positing any basis for preferring his explanation over the President's? Note also, he is trying to simultaneously argue that cost containment is not happening, but then he goes on to say it is. Can you explain the paradox?

By the way, this is a perfect example of the criticism we've leveled against your use of blogs, one that you have not understood. Posting a link, without any statement about why or how it informs your understanding of the issue is a fairly useless thing. Comment on my questions, explain how my interpretation is wrong, irrelevant, or perhaps (and this would be big of you), admit that my questions demonstrate that the article has significant problems. Blogs are fine as an instrument for stimulating discussion, but first you have to point out why the blogger's post is significant to the debate.

Maybe Federal Farmer can at least learn that making spectacularly bad arguments in favor of his position is worse than making no argument at all.
