MY cat insists I watch it eat. Not that big an accomplishment IMO but it seems very pround of this ability.

That's pretty unusual, even for a cat. Most cats I've ever seen get all nervous if you stand there and watch while they eat.

No, my one cat even looks over it's shoulder to make sure I'm still watching it. It could be trying to get me to top off it's bowl. All three cats won't eat when the dish is almost empty (dry cat food for them) they want fresh food right out of the bag. They will eventually grow impatient and eat regardless, but we generally keep the dishes topped off.
