No, my one cat even looks over it's shoulder to make sure I'm still watching it. It could be trying to get me to top off it's bowl. All three cats won't eat when the dish is almost empty (dry cat food for them) they want fresh food right out of the bag. They will eventually grow impatient and eat regardless, but we generally keep the dishes topped off.
