Here's the video of Sarkeesian admitting she doesn't enjoy video games:

See, this is how you create the impression that criticism of Sarkeesian has absolutely nothing to do with the content of her analysis.

You said games often fulfill male fantasies.
Sarkeesian says games often fulfill male fantasies.
Many of her critics deny that games often fulfill male fantasies.
So you... agree with her critics? :wtf:

I have played many of those games; I don't think she's cherry-picking at all. When she activates comments, they have been overrun with the vilest misogynist shit imaginable. She sometimes still allows comments and is then promptly criticised for courting trolls.

That's been refuted several times, but more importantly, it doesn't change any of the issues above. If games often fulfill male fantasies, that won't retroactively change when accurately described by a person who misrepresents her gamer credentials, whatever that means precisely.

You are again agreeing with Sarkeesian's description, and disagreeing with her critics who argue that games are for men and will never change.

    Same objection stands.

Strawman: Wanting to add to the variety of games is wanting a change in the sum of available games, but has nothing to do with telling people they cannot or must not make certain games.

Nobody is saying "never". Sarkeesian and I would like to see more of them. This prompts us to say so. Your problem with that is....?

Yes, within the constraints of some very basic realistic assumptions about human bodies in space. Are you absolutely sure you want to take this discussion there, pretending you misunderstood the common usage of 'ubiquitous'?

The impression being instead that Sarkeesian is getting criticized so harshly based solely on the presence of a va-jay-jay between her legs? :dayton:

I'll thank you to stop putting words in my mouth.

    Let's review the tape:
"Fulfill male fantasies" makes it sound like you're talking about prostitute simulators. I'm talking about games that have female characters with exaggerated proportions, or women being saved by men. Not necessarily fantasies, but not feminist-friendly either. But even a game like Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball, which sort of qualifies as a "male fantasy" in some respects, isn't necessarily bad. It just has an obvious target audience.

    Like who?

Depends on the critic. There are a lot of people disagreeing with her, and it's not just men.

Hitman: Absolution was the most glaring example of cherry-picking. Won't go into details, but in order to experience the "women as objects" scenario she talked about, you have to do things that you are actively penalized for doing. And Anita made it appear that killing strippers and dragging their bodies around was a normal part of the game.

That's just one example. YouTube has plenty of video debunking Anita's other claims.

The internet is full of assholes. Every internet personality receives it to some degree or another. Even PewDiePie (and before you mention he also disables comments, he doesn't make a bunch of assertions in his videos then refuse to hear responses). And before you claim it's Anita's plumbing that's causing such vitriol, her associate Jonathan McIntosh put out a "25 Invisible Benefits of Gaming While Male" video that was also lambasted. But (surprise!), comments are disabled on that video as well.

See the video I posted above.

I disagree with your statement about Anita's critics. I think it's a false assertion, and I have yet to see evidence to the contrary.

The diversity was already there. Anita is manufacturing a narrative that doesn't exist. And criticism of certain types of content to a large audience is most certainly a tactic to pressure developers to not approach those types of scenarios.

You put up the strawman that Anita's critics argue for less diversity in video games.

Make all the games you want in which ever flavors of feminism you prefer. Just don't claim sexism if they're not a financial success, and gamers instead opt for the next Call of Duty game that comes out.

I see we're starting to descend into the meanings of words. Ubiquitous does not mean majority, last I looked in the dictionary.

Women can be omnipresent in a group without constituting a majority.

Yeah, ok. If you want to discuss this, go back to the first four lines and respond to them, specifically, rather than separating them until you can pretend they mean absolutely anything, and kid yourself into believing that everything is its own opposite.

They don't fulfill fantasies, they just cater to them? Really? That's even worse than Diacanu's bullshit.
