After we're finished "nuking & carpeting" we've still gotta live in this world.

You're right, prior to WW2 wars were even more brutal, entire populations were massacred and enslaved.

You can laugh and try to act superior all you like, in the end it's just hand wringing and ignoring reality. People like you have just been brainwashed into thinking everything is America's fault and these people will like us if we just give them all a big hug. America is what 240 years old or so? People have been vicious animals for what 10,000 year? Yeah, definitely our fault.

So yeah, you can walk around with that arrogant bullshit attitude, but it changes nothing.

There is one hell of a major difference between being "frowned on" and planting IEDs & sniping at you.

Just stop, you're killing me with this massive display of ignorance. People like me? Please tell me where I stand on the following international issues:

    Ukraine
    Syria
    IS (distinct from Syria)
    Venezuela

Trust me, if you think I'm Mr. Kumbaya, you've never once understood at least half of anything I've said about foreign affairs. Your posts reveal a rathe astonishing refusal or perhaps inability to understand either the topic or the positions stated by others. You seem to be in your own world, debating imaginary caricatures.

And by the way, when I mentioned the past 1,000 years, that's where you should have noticed that I was explicitly not blaming America.

Yes. And that's why they're considered to be evil.

Gotta love this self-proclaimed gritty realistic morality that tells you that's just how evil the evil things are, and you've got to live with it. Would you use the same logic for other crimes?

"You try not to rape women, but if you do rape them, you gotta really understand rape, and make sure you hurt them, destroy them physically and psychologically, and best kill them afterwards. Otherwise, you're just doing it wrong."

Hey! That's why we don't rape! And that's also why we don't endorse the kind of war you're talking about.

Er, no. We haven't. I don't blame America for the ills of the world, let alone the decisions of Middle-eastern religious fanatics, and while I know people who believe that we may have played a contributing role in many of the world's problems, I've never met anyone who "blames" America for "everything", let alone the actions of Muslim radicals. If anyone is trying to brainwash me into believing such nonsense, they're doing a really lousy job of it.
Um, I'm pretty sure that not even RickDeckard believes we can hug our way out of this, and can't really think of anyone who wants to hug jihadists.

That you're so moronically gullible that you actually buy into those kind of Limbaughesque stereotypes of Liberals, lets me know that you're the one who is been brainwashed. It also lets me know that I was being far too generous, when I compared your intellectual agility to that of anything on the Burger King menu.

I'm pretty sure that I've scraped crap off the sole of my shoes that was a hell of a lot smarter than you.

Well I've watched videos last night of ISIS executing hundreds of Iraqi's. Lining them up on the ground and shooting them. Then going back and shooting them again. Then going again and head shooting them just in case the twenty previous bullets didn't do the trick.

Also another version of execution where they shoot them in the head one at a time and push the body in a river. Though the one guy got a little too eager to shoot people in the head as he didn't want to wait for the soon to be dead guys to get to the edge. Had to kick a couple bodies over the side. The concrete under the guys feet? Solid red and I doubt it was paint.

Bunch of evil fuckers. If they aren't taken care of soon they are going to spread like a cancer to the rest of the Middle East.

And I can't understand why the Iraqi's would surrender. I can understand in the beginning because ISIS lied to everyone but once it became known that they love executing people I'd fight to death or save that last bullet for myself.

People like winners and at this point it doesn't look like ISIS is losing. Poor people love so-called winners who claim they are doing it for the poor oppressed peoples.

Look at you. You support any tin-plated dictator like Chavez that comes along.

    That's how cancer spreads.

And no you've gotten that out of your system, is there any chance of a rational response?

ISIS fighters are small in number and depend on a level of support in the Sunni communities in which they operate. How could that possible spread to the rest of the middle east?

Is it going to happen overnight? I didn't claim that. Cancer can take its time.

There are always useful idiots who fall for everything. You are the perfect example of such.

Well for one, IIRC the remainder of the Middle Eastern Muslim countries (except for Iran) have majority Sunni populations.

The Saudis are certainly worried. I don't agree that the entire ME is at risk, but anywhere that has a substantial and oppressed Suni population might need to think about how to avoid being next.

    Almost none. Probably.

    "ALMOST....NONE....."

But that is a huge distinction.

Let's say you've got 20 million Sunni's. Say only 5% (1 million people) are willing to actively support ISIS.

And that only 1% of Sunnis are willing to go about murdering & destroying.

That is still an army of 200,000 supported by 1 million. In other words a huge army by modern standards. Even though 94% of the Sunnis wouldn't have anything to do with them.

I'm still waiting for a reasonable response. Just because IS are psychotic does not imply that they are powerful or likely to become so. Most people are disgusted by them.

Dude, they're the guys that were too extreme for Al Qaeda, and Al Qaeda didn't have that many friends in the first place. Not to mention, they're raping and killing everyone that doesn't completely agree with them, including other Muslims and other Muslim terrorists. They're basically Reavers.

They're not going to make a lot of friends.

Which we cannot do. IIRC, a pretty ironclad unwritten and informal (yet still real) agreement among the nuclear powers NOT to use nuclear weapons against nonnuclear threats.

The U.S. nukes some terrorists in the desert and next week it will be Russia nuking "terrorists" along the U.K. border, North Korea nuking South Korean "infiltrators" and India nuking Pakistani "agents" in Kashmir.

I have a reputation for being fascinated by war. But even I don't want a world where nuclear attacks are occurring like drive by shootings in Chicago.
