Feelings and impulses she never knew she had were awakened (hey, that sounds like a cheap romance novel...).

You may read implied lesbianism into the Amazons, but that's what you're reading in. Nothing in the text supports it. The Amazons appear to be asexual (except for, as mentioned above, the few occasions where they abducted a--presumably very lucky--man for use in breeding). Unrealistic? No more so than a magically hidden island populated by immortal Amazons.

I actually would rather it were left ambiguous. Someone asks "What do you Amazons do for...sex?" and, before Wonder Woman can answer, she gets called away to something important.

You do know people can be bisexual, don't you? Sexuality is a spectrum, not either one or another.
