    Please enlighten me as to where I have defended the concept of "sovereignty".

    My point is that "invade and kill lots of people", which is what is being implied here, doesn't usually improve the situation. Suggesting it is intended to make you feel better and superior to these savages, but you don't give the practicality a lot of thought. Where there are actual ways to make things better - usually involving the mundane hard work of building rather than destroying - I'll be in favour of them and national sovereignty will be the least of my concerns.

    Well, I've never been in favor of "nation building", which is the term often used for what you describe.
    Essentially, you can't force change on people. They have to want it. As maddening as it was, the Afghans pretty much just let the Taliban roll on back in. A lot of dead Afghans and Americans for nothing.
    Yes, I do think of those people as savage, and I do see myself as superior. But that doesn't mean I think we should roll in willy-nilly.
    I will, however, point and sneer and tout my own moral superiority when I see stories like this one from Iraq, though. And it is well deserved.
