That's not the question though. The question is whether they intended it to be a "living document" or had different opinions about what it meant. There isn't a single answer to that, they had different opinions, there is vast textual evidence for their different opinions, and yet people continue to argue as if they were of one mind. It's nuts.

Also, I’ve previously bitched about the US education system teaching to the lowest common denominator. That lowest common denominator - is FF.

The point is that despite their differing opinions, they each conceded many points (including allowing for slavery) in order to start the creation of a new government. We’re taught right along with memorizing the preamble, they intended the document to evolve over the years.

The thing is, despite how badly things turned out, Jefferson, Madison, Adams, and Hamilton were brilliant philosophers and deserve to be mythologized. The US constitution was far ahead of its time. Yes, it has flaws, but it was the first of its kind. Others learned from us and avoided many of our mistakes, but the writers of the US constitution absolutely were brilliant men.

"Intended to evolve" isn't the same thing.

People are just far too bought into the mythology. And that includes this benevolent notion of coming together for the good of all. It was cold, hard politics and arguably even bore elements of a counter-revolution against the radical ideas that motivated the fight against the British.

I suppose that could be argued. But, as with most things in this life, I prefer to assume they had the best of intentions.

No one thinks they’re doing the bad thing. No one thinks of themselves as villains. Everyone wants to believe they are doing the right thing.

I choose to believe Jefferson, Madison, Adams, and Hamilton were well read, intelligent, followers of modern philosophers of the time - Kant, Locke, Montesquique..etc. - and truly wanted something better for everyone.

Or judicial system in general prioritizes the rights of the accused. For good reason.

Because the left wants it both ways when it comes to the second amendment. They always bring up that when the second amendment was written we only had muskets and that they couldn’t have foreseen automatic weapons. When you counter that with they also couldn’t have foreseen computers, that’s when the intentions discussion breaks out because they then start wrongly start defining the term well regulated militia. That’s when their lack of knowledge really starts to show. Then the discussion starts to spiral.

Exactly the point. Innocent people get accused, rights are casually violated, and so everyone must receive due process before any punishment.

What sort of punishment should be leveled against men who casually accuse any woman who has the audacity to say no of being a whore?

Of course. He gets no punishment despite just saying it would ruin her life. But, god fucking forbid we accuse a man and it ruins his life.

    Really? That's your rebuttal?
A heavily biased blog post with no independent research and not one iota of hard data?
That didn't actually refute anything I said.
The bare statistics, straight from the CDC, are pretty much irrefutable.
Who has the highest amount of violent gun crime per capita? States with the least restrictions.
Who has the lowest amount per capita? States with the highest restrictions.
Once again, I challenge you or anyone else to show me actual statistics that price otherwise.
You are literally trying to refute facts with your feelings.

Years ago I used to support gun ownership[ like the US has. I like guns, and my friends liked guns. We were free and freedom was awesome. Then I saw the actual statistics and There needs to be regulations. I would even go to outright banning the general ownership of guns while allowing entertainment use of firearms in a very restricted target range setting.

A man meing accused of rape is an entirely different galaxy of ruination compared to a woman being called a whore. Let's come the fuck back to reality here.

Spoken like a man whose life could never be dislodged by being called a whore.

I dismiss your argument on the grounds you’re not even trying. Read up on history, then make an argument that actually addresses the issue.

I'm talking about reality as it exists today, not some revenge fantasy about someone's ancestors.

I'm also not talking about the middle east or Africa. Today, in the west, "whore" is a rude but hardly consequential insult for a woman, while a rape conviction is the end of your life as a free, functional man in society.

Also, we just saw Trump's lawyers pulling the "whore" (or "porn star") BS on Stormy this very week.

Rape trials STILL see the defence team trying to exploit any history of sexual "looseness" on behalf of the victim.
