The whole point of ‘red flag’ laws. To remove the ability for some who has the potential to do serious harm, from actually doing serious harm.

Anyone who has a problem with that, should be more upset at the people making the laws necessary and less with the people who make the laws.

Many, MANY people who don’t understand the need for the law, argue against it. Not because they oppose the law, but because social norms, especially in the Midwest, oppose things they don’t understand.

I should have expounded.

Many people, myself included as well as many posters here, possess and openly display those ‘red flags’. Not everyone responds the same way. That is why they are ‘red flags’. It just means, ‘this’ behavior when combined with other things such as lack of self introspection, could be a sign of trouble.

It does not mean everyone who possesses such traits will commit atrocious act against others, it’s just something someone engaging in interpersonsonal relations with someone possessing such attributes should be wary.

When I say ‘most don’t understand’ what I mean is that humans are not mind readers and not everyone thinks the same. For example: I know some girls, once they reach puberty and adolescence, know their life goals is to be a wife and mother. I do not understand that think -like at all. It’s never been even on my radar. But I do know some girls do think that because they told me and I have no reason to not believe them.

Here’s a red flag. Way back in the day, when my brother and I were still in high school, his class took a field trip. When they returned, many of his classmates told me he’s been holding hands with some girl (don’t remember her name).

Anyway, it was a small town and everyone knew we were siblings and they all knew my brother had a girlfriend who lived in a different town.

So, they thought it up to me to let her know my brother was a cheating asshole.

When I did, her response was unlike anything I could have or would have imagined. Rather than being outraged, she held up her hand and said “I’m the one wearing a ring.”

This is someone who is more concerned with appearances and symbology than actual feelings. And yet, they’ve stayed married for 40 years.

Red flags are just things that people should be aware of.

Most people who possess those red flag traits would never act on them, so they are against those laws. I do not mean to say that that all people who possess those traits don’t know it and will act negatively on them.
