Yes, and you know that of course, since that is the example she uses in the 2:30 part of the video you are discussing and have therefore no doubt watched. That, as well as any other aspect of rape that is transferred from stories about rape unto, you know, actual rape.
Since that isn't her question nor claim, I guess you should start your own kickstarter project on that. But if you ask me, your question starts out wrong; cultural facts are connected systemically rather than in sequences of easily delined causes and effects, where a person acting a certain way will contribute to representations of that action just as representations of that action will contribute to action. Is "tree" the English word for the woody things with the leaves because you use it tthat way or because you hear it used that way? And trying to isolate them from one another is like trying to isolate mass from inertia.

Yup. And yet culture, politics, and ethics also happen; some of us might even find them more interesting than the last calculable detail of geology.

Please let's have a citation. I've provided you a discussion of your quote, even though it's taken from an editorial that wasn't even written by her. Now you're unhappy because the quote you chose doesn't fit other stuff you've heard about what she says. If you want to discuss what she says, start with what she says.

"need to" being your weasel word to take up the fact that she's criticizing some games and extolling the virtues of others, and then turn it into your claims of censorship. Of course, such tactics wouldn't even begin to work if you'd use what she actually said, rather than your own vague representations of stuff you've apparently never seen or read.

Well, it wasn't intended to be, but your tizzy is a teensy touch amusing now.

So what was it intended to be? You really couldn't distinguish between "stories about suns might make people believe the things they say about suns" and "stories about suns might create suns"?

I've got diarrhea to go have.
As loathsome as it is, it's more interesting than this thread anymore.

His and Dinner's inability to deal with the actual statements, resting instead on poorly considered re-interpretations makes me wonder if what she has said hits too close for comfort.

You mean that bullshit that didn't actually break any of Twitter's terms of service? Which lead to his account being restored?

John, I can honestly say this has been eyeopening for me. I used to think you were much more open-minded and reasonable. Then this topic came up and I see I was wrong about you.

 That's funny, because you're someone I can honestly say I've never seen as open-mined and reasonable.

What's really funny, though, is that with as different as Dicky, Dinner and I are, it shows just a small sample of how diverse support for GamerGate is. #NotYourShield is a better illustrator, but really, how often is it that I agree with Dicky and Dinner on anything, Dinner especially?

She says that the content of video games are harmful to women. So harmful it effects them in the real world (we get back to this claim later) and therefor the content of video games needs to change. Sge wants content she doesn't like to no longer be made and, I assume, content which she does like to be made otherwise her criticism has no point.

Back to the supposed real world harm to women. She claims this harm is manufested by spreading rape myth which, presumably, some how results in more women getting raped.

You can play all of the word games you want but that is the heart of her claims otherwise everything she posted is just word salad. She is claiming games cause violence against women and that the types of games she doesn't like need to stop being made.

X is right that his twitter account is being restored as he never broke the terms of service and that the radio shock jock who started the campaign to make false claims that the man had broken the terms of service, in order to silience a view point he disagreed with, is now gwtting sued for civil damages. He will rightly be found at fault too by the court.

This is yet another example of them ignoring the very real points brought up and then just trying to silience the opposition using false claims.

Not at all. She is using weasel words which very clearly imply something but which give her an out if anyone challenges her claims.

Some surprises in this thread, the main one being that WF’s Last Starfighters consist of some predictable and some not predictable members.

Then there was Diacanu Volponing the “Guns don’t kill people” riff.

“Kill a hooker…win a speedboat!” Interesting take on the American Dream.

And the not-so-subtle underlying theme that "Women don't really understand what misogyny is. Wait till we start beheading them for adultery. Then they'll get it."

Fun watching Archangel :drunkfriends: Dinner (“OMFG, a leftie who agrees with me!), but he can’t sustain it. A few posts later he shows yet again that he’s incapable of finishing a sentence (or possibly a thought) without using the word “leftist.”

Summing up: Boyz will be boyz, but some of them may never be men.

Yeah, nothing positive I said mattered, none of my logical solutions mattered, none of my agreement with Sarkeesian mattered, it's just have 100% compliance or you're human garbage.

This is why this isn't a productive discussion, everyone has their rigid ideological positions carved in, and there' no room for any grey.

Yeah, I know, welcome to WF.

Actually, I included you just to give some benefit of doubt. To be honest, I'm surprised to see the other two siding with the fanboy, but not so surprised by your reactionary response.
