REPORT (REDACTED) RELEASED 4/18/19: https://www.justice.gov/storage/report.pdf EDIT: https://www.justice.gov/sco Since it looks like things are starting to heat up, I thought it would be a good idea to start a running thread where we can keep track of all the latest developments. And there are developments. We're only eleven weeks into this and events are moving swiftly. The Wall Street Journal has reported that a federal grand jury has been impaneled, which gives Mueller the power to subpoena documents and compel witnesses to testify under oath: http://thehill.com/homenews/adminis...ishes-grand-jury-in-trump-russia-probe-report Also, CNN has published the most detailed breakdown I've seen yet on the financial aspects of the investigation and where it might lead: http://www.cnn.com/2017/08/03/polit...ssia-trump-one-year-financial-ties/index.html Much more to come. Feel free to add your own.
My only prediction at this point will be that just like the last two, they’ll nab an enemy combatant for something that will have nothing to do with original mandate, probably coming down to some form of perjury or tampering. Like Ken Starr (started as Foster/Whitewater investigation, instead found dress spoo, cockgarbling Lewinski and perjury enough to disbar Pres. Clinton for a while). And like Fitzgerald (“investigation” purported to be’who leaked Plame,’ except Fitz already knew in advance it was Armitage; and after some time he was able to nail Libby, Cheney’s guy, for perjury). Aside: I remember my first 5 years as atty working for US SEC, and we never started a case without ending up with something, no matter how far off the initial trajectory, it's just bad "business." [government euphemism double-speak, of course]
Ya this will be another plame like issue. Some low to mid level heads will roll and the left will scream Watergate til 2020
Oh man, I meant to include this in my original post. There's just so much to keep up with. Top FBI officials have been informed that they might be required to testify against the President: https://www.vox.com/policy-and-poli...er-obstruction-case-stronger-trump-surrogates
I predict nothing significant will come of it. It's been almost a year since the dems memed the "Russia" narrative into existence (without confronting the burden of proof). Obama plainly stated that Russia and the U.S. were on friendly terms. He gave them Crimea and allowed military intervention in Ukraine. He was "soft" on Vlad. The corporate media are certainly doing their part to sell tales of political intrigue. But alas, no evidence. Incidentally, I don't care for the racism leveled against Russians as a result of the political intrigue. I know many Russians who are really good people. Like Dr. Krieg!
It was what, 3 years from the naming of first Friske, then Starr as Special Investigator until he first impaneled a Grand Jury (because there was nothing to Whitewater or Vince Foster, the investigation was closed until Linda Tripp called). The fact that it took only 3 months for Mueller to need an additional one (there is already one for Flynn) is telling.
Funny, the day after the election, there was a rainbow outside of my apartment. I live about an hour outside of DC.
I don't care if anyone goes to jail or not, I just want this investigation to confirm the piss tape is real and release it.
No present or former President of the United States will ever see the inside of a jail cell. That said, White House staffers are a dime a dozen...
Yep. Even if Trump is impeached (or resigns), you can count on Pence issuing a pardon as soon as he assumes the office.
Really? Why should he open himself up to political flak like that? I mean, mind you I didn't see Trump do anything I'd wish him to go to jail for (as president, like starting wars etc). But I think when Mueller digs out something, a pardon would be quite stupid. Especially the kind of charges he's after. That is if Pence doesn't go down with Trump. Inner circle and all.
Pence isn't going down with Trump. Pence isn't stupid and Pence does want to be President. He'd have already blown the lid off anything if he knew anything that Trump did that was truly impeachable. In reality Pence is the GOP's life raft. If Trump goes down in flames the GOP will blame the voters. The GOP will say, "Hey you guys had 17 people to choose from and you choose Trump so you can't complain. Everyone warned you and you shot them down and still voted Trump." Pence's job, since even though people will be mad they will still like Pence, will be too smooth over the voters ruffled feathers and keep them voting GOP. But this is all silly. Trump isn't going anywhere except possibly in 2020 if he's voted out. If there was anything, really anything, everyone in DC would have already leaked it and Trump would already be on fire and burning to the ground.
And all the left jumps up and down....... WE GOT HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But this is standard stuff in an investigation. It means nothing. Part of investigating is talking to everyone.
Just pointing out the fact that around 99% of grand juries end up issuing indictments. They only get called when there is already serious dirt and their job is to get more evidence.
You guys on the left falling for the same crap that the right did, hell still are doing in regards to Obama and Hillary. "WE GOT'EM!!!!!!" Everyone else: A week later: "WE GOT'EM!!!!! FOR REAL THIS TIME!!!!!!!!" Everyone else:
False equivalency. The FBI opened two investigations into Hillary's emails and then closed both b/c there was nothing there. Instead of the Trump investigation closing they've had to constantly expand staff due to all the leads they are following and new ones they keep finding. And now they need a second grand jury b/c having just one was a bottleneck. Now, I'm not predicting impeachment tomorrow or any such thing. Only pointing out that just b/c the right got duped into thinking Hillary was a criminal doesn't necessarily that Trump isn't a criminal. That's not how it works.
I don't know if the GOP prefers Pence or Ryan. My gut tells me: Ryan. Pence is boring. But at least he's probably competent (even though disgusting in his opinions).
You're looking at things through rose-coloured glasses, with a bit of personal bias mixed in. Trump will go down (again, he either resigns or is impeached). Pence will assume the presidency and pardon him. The GOP gets to save face. The Democrats will shit their pants and gnash their teeth. The American electorate will grumble for a while but eventually go back to watching My 600-Pound Life and Say Yes To The Dress. Life will go on. And that's just about the most depressing thing I've typed in all my years at Wordforge.
