Then why were SOFA negotiations peachy until the summer of 2011, after Wikileaks had already been digested and right up until the administration started slashing permanent force numbers, causing some dismay, and didn't tank until October and November of 2011 when State sent in its crack retard teams to try and force the most difficult issue first, while flatly refusing to give Iraq politicians time to do the necessary prep work?

Negtiations were peachy between the Americans and the Iraqi government for a time. As soon as the latter tried to line up enough political support to get the measure through, they found that they could not, such was the public anger.

    Thank Bradley Manning for this.

Federal Farmer is confusing things. The idea that Iraq 2 was for revenge relates to Sadam's post Iraq 1 efforts to assassinate Bush 41.

It's plausible that Gore would have invaded Iraq in the pursuit of ManBearPig. :borg:

I thank Obama for it. Bush's diplomatic team bombed, invaded, and occupied Iraq and still got a SOFA. The new kids couldn't manage to get a SOFA with just 10 deaths in a raid and airstrike. That's because Obama insisted repeatedly that he would bring all the troops home and was looking for any way to do it. He'd already insisted on slashing the numbers of troops that were to remain, far below what the Iraqis wanted, and they stoked the upset over immunity, the same agreement that even the Saudis have.

You are incorrect. I started this thread because I started an identical one at PoliticalForum.com and decided I might as well cut and past to three other forums (including this one) that I frequent.

It was mainly in response to the eternal comments by the Obama apologists that "Bush started two wars".

So you say. And nothing you've presented supports the claim in the title.

To be clear, we're talking about Afghanistan 2001 and Iraq 2003.

So who started them? Dick Cheney? Santa Claus? Alexander Campbell?

Well for one blame Bush for Afghanistan 2001 is ridiculous.

Almost everyone agrees that no matter who was president in 2001 would've ordered the invasion of Afghanistan.

Instead of emotion-laden words like "blame," try sticking to the facts. Who ordered the invasion of Afghanistan?

Bush. But he didn't start the war.

The war started when those three airliners killed 2,ooo people at the control a group of terrorists based in Afghanistan.

But not by the Afghani government. If American skinheads killed a group of Israeli citizens, you'd be fine with Israel bombing the U.S., then.

And don't bother derailing with a sidebar on Israeli military capabilities. It's an analogy. Try to stay on topic.

Of course not. As you well know as far as I"m concerned American sovereignty trumps that of any other nation on Earth.

Back then the power to declare war resided solely with Congress, so it required the affirmative votes of Hillary and John Kerry, otherwise the authorization wouldn't have made it past the Democrat controlled Senate.

Modern Israel and the Jews are in no way God's chosen people.

That died out when they rejected Christ as their leader.

I love orange slices Garamet. They were also one of my dads favorite treats. I prefer washing them down with whole milk.

Incidentally, they are one of the sugary treats that have little effect on my diabetes for some reason.

None of which proves why you posted the thread here. You certainly had to have known that the response would be less than favorable.

Which reenforces my point: You figured this would be a "hotter" topic, and would thus make people forget about the other threads. You know, where you've been asked how you'd handle dealing with trying to get 2.5 million people across 300 miles of desert.

    Tucker.

Why would I give a rats ass about how to get 2.5 million people across the desert? It isn't the least bit relevant to me, my life, or any possible future events in my life or yours.

And based on that and your persistence upon this irrelevancy it stands to reason that question is not in good faith on your part.

As insecure as Gore came off during the 2000 presidential debates, I absolutely believed he would have also invaded Iraq.
