Are we all being forced to pay for Ramen's property?

Assuming you earned enough to pay taxes, you'd be paying part of Bundy's fees.

Tell you what...why don't you go squat on Ramen's lawn and test his theory?

Which government? Guy was told to get his cattle off the land in 1998, back when Bill Clinton, Trent Lott, Dick Armey, and Newt Gingrich were running the Federal government, and everyone that's followed them since has stood by that decision.

Trying to pin this on Harry Reid is conspiracy theory nonsense.

So you guys believe that Bundy, who essentially admitted he was not the owner, is nevertheless the property owner? I've got some swamp land in Florida, and a bridge in Brooklyn to sell to you fools.

Except that it was "handled" administratively and judicially until this month. Not coincidentally, just as the Dry Lake SEZ is becoming a thing.

Your clique is sure to slurp that up. After all, y'all do love a good argumentum ad lapidem.

This is yet another example of the very odd strain of libertarianism practiced by Castle and FF, which goes like this:

Rights for me, and none for ye.

Their politics isn't nearly that sensible or coherent. Their strain of libertarianism is closer to this:

"I pooped. It feels good. {giggle}"

There's gul with the ad hominem, followed by Liet with the ad lapidem. It's like watching that scene from Pulp Fiction with the guy who bursts out of the bathroom, gun a-blazing, and hits nothing -- but with the parties reversed.

Challenge to Castle, Federal Farmer, Ramen, frontline, or whichever of you has the cojones to accept it:

Pretend you're a reporter for a news source you trust. Tell us exactly what happened here from as objective a viewpoint as you're capable, in chronological order, using verifiable facts, not opinion.

    And, go...

ETA one hour later: Or not.

For another, it eliminates the potential targets of all those paranoid-trigger-happy-motherfuckers that have flocked to Bundy's side in hope of starting the revolution against that Kenyan Commie in the White House.

Where the fuck is Janet Reno when you really need her?

That would make an excellent segue into a discussion of the current state of voice dictation software.

What I find funny is the (sort of related) Eminent Domain right. Often the land bought for "the good of the public" is never used for it's intended purpose, then sold at a huge profit to commercial developers. Of course the people that got forced off their land at "fair market value" don't get their cut of the windfall. Whoops-a-daisy!

Might as well jack this thread with eminent domain. It's not as though half the people posting in this thread have any actual information supporting their wild statements.

I don't generally favor eminent domain. It was used to ruin many of this country's cities by building too many highways and massive redeveloped mega-blocks. Statists who favor subsidizing suburban sprawl, prove me wrong.

And? Who owns the land? Does the owner get to decide how it's used? This business about Reid only matters if you don't honestly answer those two questions.

Reid makes a deal, in cooperation with his kid, to undersell $38M of public land to a Chinese company for $4.5M so they can build a solar farm on it. SEZs require off-site environmental impact mitigation areas, per BLM policy. Guess where they decide that area is gonna be. Gold Butte. This isn't a case of "after this, therefore because of this." This is as simple as cause and effect. I know, I know -- you don't believe in cause and effect. But secular folks like me do.

And so this retroactively caused this sumbitch Bundy to stop paying what he owed for the use of land that wasn't his? How do you figure?
