I thought about watching the prequels recently, and then reconsidered the first because it was dumb. Then I remembered who played Anakin, and I went for a bike ride instead of watching anything.

ETA: I think a Han Solo prequel would be awesome. Oh wait, that's Firefly.

Episode 3 is the only prequal I can watch.

There were rumours a year ago right after the sale to Disney that there might be a Boba Fett movie. That's the one I'd like to see.

Forget all that crap! From what it looks like Abrams and crew are completely ignoring the prequels, and are doing everything possible to wipe the shitstain of George Lucas' ego from these new films. The cast is all happy and excited by what they've seen so far, and everyone is raving how little CGI there will be as all the sets are practical again. Between Abrams and Kasdan's script, I feel Episode VII will make most of us forget the awful PT and have fun at the movies once more.

As long as Eps VII-IX are a Jar Jar Free Zone, it shouldn't be half-bad!

That's true, 67% of Jar Jar free Star Wars episodes are good, compared to only 33% of Jar Jar episodes. Not worth the risk. IMO!

You're being generous. Only 2 out of the 6 movies were good. One was mediocre, and the rest were just plain bad.

It's too late now, but Vincent Price & Ricardo Montalban would've been great actors to have had in SW films! It was awesome that Peter Cushing was in Episode IV, & Christopher Lee in episodes 2 & 3 (in spite of & despite their flaws).

Well, if they wanted to cast old horror film stars (since just about all the regular Hammer film ones are dead, besides Christopher Lee) they could get Linda Blair, Christopher Walken, the guy who played Father Damien Carras, Max Von Sydow, or what's his name who played Freddy Krueger.

Oh, that'd be a weird synchronicity.

Robert Englund and Mark Hamill used to be apartment roomies, and Englund was there when Hamill got famous for Luke Skywalker, and the lessons he learned as a vicarious observer taught him how to handle when his fame exploded as Freddy.

There is a big rumor/potential spoiler revealed on that site. Personally, I don't buy it.

Looks like Wickett the Ewok himself Warwick Davis has joined the cast in some capacity as well. And it looks like they are almost finished filming according to Kathleen Kennedy.

Eh. Not bad. Not great, but not Big Floppy Eared Amphibian and the Planet of the Racist Stereotypes, so that's something.

The new title kinda preserves the old-fashioned serial theme, but, really, I'm rather "meh" about it. Perhaps it will grow on me. I remember thinking "The Phantom Menace" was a ridiculously bad title; now I think it's a perfectly fine title for a ridiculously bad movie.

Anthony Daniels says it's better than "Empire".
He didn't say that about the prequels.

This film is going to suck. Mark my words. It will be sleek & stylish like JJ's Trek films, but will be devoid of any human feeling or emotion. It will reek of corporate oversight and conservatism, and have none of the spontaneous charm or humor of the original trilogy. It will be hamstrung by the confusion of the prequels and the revised special edition originals. They won't be able to totally ignore now canonical elements like midichlorians or Boba Fett clone troopers.

And I fear that they will resort to the strategy of storytellers who have run out of ideas - killing off characters. If they off Chewbacca or Han Solo, I'm gonna be real pissed.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.

Scene 1: "Force awakens" All midichlorians immediately dissolve into a mystical energy that permeates all things.

Scene 2: (flashback) Shows the rounding up and summary execution of all clone troopers.

    Problem solved.

Well, most of the criticism folks had for JJ as a Trek movie director is exactly why he's a perfect fit now. Star Wars has never been about depth, IMO. Except for "Empire," the original trilogy was mainly an adventure film. The characters are fleshed out well enough to know their motivations, but would I say any of 'em are particularly 3-dimentional? Not really, not to thew extent that Kirk and Spock were.

I really don't think anyone would be so stupid to referrence anything of the prequel series other than to acknoledge Padme as being the Solo/Skywalker spawn(s)' grandmother and only in passing.

Lucas pretty much ignored the midichlorians after the first movie and the fans got so upset.

The only payoff was it was the mechanism of Darth Plagueous creating Anakin, and only as stupid throwaway dialog.
Course, the virgin birth bullshit needn't have even been there to begin with.
Lucas had to run his Joseph Campbell horseshit to the hilt, instead of just making an entertaining movie.
