    Yep.

The stunt double and stand-in for the "Jedi" character are both listed in the credits.

Effects houses *really* need to get Deep Fakes incorporated into their repertoire. It consistently provides a stronger, more credible artificial face.

I think that’s it. Dave Feloni is pretty good at filling in the blanks so knowing his past work, it makes sense that they would go in this direction.

Luke's mouth still isn't right in that deepfake.

But totally agree that the VFX industry is shocking slow, particularly when home users can often do things better than multi-million dollar FX studios can.

I would think VFX workers would be hesitant to use AI technology like Deep Fake because it could potentially put them out of work (or at least lead to a lot less work, e.g., just spot checking what Deep Fake spits out, rather than building it from the ground up). I don't know how they're typically paid though--if it's hours based, they would be less likely to use AI; if it's project based, the use of AI could make them far more profitable.

How come it was done SO well in the Marvel movies and so badly in Lucasfilm?

I would assume that it's mostly a case of Lucasfilm using the knowledge and talent they have have in house, whereas the Marvel movies are outsourced to whoever can do the effects best/quickest/cheapest which involves them building up teams with the particular skills that project needs.

But it looks better than the Luke from the Holiday Special.

Just caught up after bingeing it, since everyone was praising it. And it is indeed really good. If only Star Trek could do a series of this quality.

These dickheads actually had the balls to call their video: "We Made a Better CGi Luke Skywalker"

Um, no they didn't. It looks like a fucking videogame.

Skip to 17:25 for their version.

I...think they did make a better Luke. It's not worlds better--and it's got flaws of its own--but I think it seems less artificial than the show version.

That Luke looks like a early 2000's or late 90's animatronic Luke, something that would have been made with silicone and servos along with a wig.
