...for deepening my relationship with Christ. A number of recent posts here gave me an epiphany into His teachings--way more so than decades of Sundays of listening to Gospel sermons. Take the "Good Shepherd." Jesus goes on about caring for the sheep and protecting them and risking everything to save the lost sheep. But the thing that gets lost in the modern Western world is what a shepherd actually does. He doesn't have all these sheep because he's running a petting zoo. Or because they're cute and fluffy and funny looking. Sheep are his livelihood. Because he has a strong, healthy flock, he can shear them every season for their wool. He gets hide and mutton from them. The Jews Christ was talking to would have understood this, but we kind of lose sight of it today. There are always going to be sheep. And you can't teach sheep to take care of themselves and be independent. They need shepherds to keep them safe and healthy. And they need to be fleeced pretty regularly, because sheep don't do well when they have too much wool--but the shepherd can make a good living off it.
Oh, fuck. Now this asshole is going to be on here preaching about Christianity as well as capitalism …. Great ….

“God” is not the author of The Bible. Multiple different authors implied their works were inspired by God. I don’t discount beliefs or faiths - if they inspire one to improve him or herself. Beliefs and/or faiths that inspire forcing others to your beliefs is detrimental. If Volpone has had an experience that caused him to believe in a deity, cool. If history, specifically Volpone’s history here, coupled with the OP, is any indication of future behavior, my assumption is he will begin posting shit tell us all how terribly we are living our lives.

Shepherds also keep the wolves away. I haven't met many shepherds. I've encountered a good number of wolves though. Some of them have shepherd costumes.

I deepened my relationship with Jesus today also. I brought him some water while he was cutting the bushes. He looked thirsty and it turns out the governor of the duh doesn't want him getting a break because of the heat so I figured I would fuck with that shit. Don't worry, I gave some to the other workers also. They seemed pretty nice, and I hope they get paid well because I don't give a fuck about what the bushes look like.
Like I said, I do not care. Evidently the people around care, and that is great. The only thing I want is for the guys who are doing the landscaping to get decently paid and have proper breaks and not die on the lawn. If there are going to be dead bodies on the lawn I want them to be MAGAts and not the guys doing the lawn. If people want the lawn decorated with CHUDs I might volunteer to collect and help.
Dear Diary, I'm so depressed. My relationship with Christ is over. After a third night in a row of heavy drinking, he crashed the car into the porch and spent the night with my sister. We had a big fight in the morning and I tossed his clothes out onto the road. He has been calling me twice per day since begging me to take him back, and I've reached the point where I think I might need to take out a restraining order. Thing is, part of me misses his sense of humour - that one about the loaves and fishes is a hoot! But it's time to move on. There's a handsome guy at the gym called Nick who I can tell has his eye on me. If only I can avoid the two of them fighting over me - it would be armagaeddon! Volpone.
