A few posts back, I put the over/under on such a lawsuit at a week. Those of you who took the "under" are the winners! You won nothing, but then again those who took the "over" lost nothing...which puts you far ahead of some of the idiots who pushed all their chips into the pot at the urging of their "friends" on Reddit...

This lawsuit doesn't have anything to do with the recent Gamestop Short Squeeze... this kid killed himself last June.

There may be something good that comes out of this event.
Medina Camacho lives in Sacramento, Calif. and has traded on and off since 2018. He acknowledged he may have rushed into the purchase, spending roughly $550 for his 36 shares of AMC and $600 for his three GameStop shares. He bought the stocks between Jan. 27 and Feb. 3, he said.

At Monday’s market close, Medina Camacho was down more than $700 on his shares of AMC Entertainment AMC, 8.56%, the national movie chain, and GameStop GME, 6.18%, the video game retailer. Both stocks were at the center of Wall Street’s recent wild ride, propelled by Reddit’s WallStreetBets, a forum for investors aiming for big gains.

Now his plan is to hold the stocks to see what’s next, especially as mass vaccination efforts hopefully send moviegoers back to theaters. Another strategy is to get ready to average down — buying more of a stock at a falling price to lower the cost basis per share.

“I should have had more patience before jumping in,” he told MarketWatch.

Like many others, he’s angry at Robinhood, one of the investing apps he uses, for limiting trades at one point. He left open the possibility that he could also be angry at himself.

So is he done playing the market? Nah.

“It doesn’t discourage me from trading in the future,” Medina Camacho said.

In fact, he wants to learn more.

AMC might be something to hold onto. I think people will return to some sort of theater experience. I do not know if it will be AMC and if they can remake the experience in a way that works. Gamestop was a complete waste of investment IMO because I see physical media for video games dying. AMC as a company has a lot of cutting edge theater equipment and properties designed for theaters.

I might be interested in some cult film viewings like RHP or maybe seeing something like the original Star Trek movies on a big screen. I know certain people like doug walker do local shows at theaters. I do not know how that goes, but having seen doug in person I would consider him a great improv stand up personality. I might make a trip or see him if he scheduled an event at a theater near a con for an extra fee.

It might even be good for conventions to rent out theater space for certain events or overflow. I remember Otakon was so big they used the pro-hockey rink in baltimore near the con center for their cosplay because the convention center did not have a room big enough for the event. You might be able to work on getting movie releases shown during the convention at an associated local theater. This would apply to all sorts of conventions. Imagine if you could go to a Star Trek con and see the movies on the big screen again.

I think theaters could revamp in certain areas to do things that were not just shoveling your new release pop trash for 15 dollars a ticket.

I hope AMC goes bankrupt, but like, after I have enough money to buy one of their smaller theaters at a fire sale price. :ramen:
