1st time starting a subject, so if I mess it up, let me know please!
The Seventh Seal is on right now. This has always been a favorite of mine. Made in 1957 directed by Ingmar Bergman, starring Max von Sydow, among others. A knight returning home from the Crusades sees Death and challenges him to a chess game, in return for his and his best buds life. Dark, yet still a few laughs here and there. Just checking if anyone else has seen it and what they think...

I've seen it but it's a long time ago so I might have to rewatch it.

Hmm, hadn't heard of that before, but I did see an episode of Benson that must have been based on it. Can't remember if it was chess, but Robert Guillaume had to play a game against the devil with a school bus full of kids lost in a storm as the stake.

Great film. I haven't seen it in a while; I'll have to spin it again soon.

FINALLY they got it right!
At least it didn't take nine attempts though.

Yeah, it was good stuff, the whole series of Bergman flicks they ran on TCM last week. I actually like the one with strawberries better. I think I'm becoming a philistine, though, I began to wish they were just dubbed already, all that reading became a slight disincentive to watch the next one. And I kept thinking if Mr Bergman didn't make those movies maybe Woody Allen would still be making funny movies (instead of wanna being poor man's mr. Ingmar).

Speaking of Bill & Ted's Bogus Sequel, didn't The Last Action Hero also feature the Scythedude from Seventh Seal (pierce the 4th wall from movie into our reality because of the magic ticket)?

Funny you said that. B4 the movie began Robert Osborne said that if he hadn't made Wild Strawberries, he never would have been able to get Seventh Seal approved. I love getting all those little tidbits b4 a movie.

As to Arnold's film honestly I only have a vague memory of not understanding wth was going on and looking for a reason to leave! (Lol- the ex wanted to see it.)

    Yes.

In fact, it was Ian McKellen, a few years before his popularity soared with Lord of the Rings and X-Men.

The Last Action Hero is really a fun film. I watched it with some friends last year, and I was kinda reticent as a bad buzz had built up around it and it had been years since I had seen it. But it's actually quite watchable.

I never understood why Last Action Hero had such a bad rep - it seems like a pretty good parody movie to me.

Idk, seems like quite a few movies get bad word of mouth. I generally prefer to make up my own mind. Can't catch them all tho- I'm def going to check it out.

How about some movie's that are Oscar winners and you end up sitting there wondering what the hell was that!?!! Lmao
