I'm in Vegas for a week next year (getting married! I'm know, I know, I'm a classy fucker...) and looking for any suggestions of things to see/do. Not the usual tourist traps, but the more unusual things tourists tend to wander past or are too busy pissing their life savings away to notice.

    Any suggestions?

Yes, the mob museum is definitely worth a look. It's near Freemont Street.

Well the brothels are actually not right in Vegas, so there really isn't anything interesting until you leave Clark County.

    Congratulations on the engagement, though!

Its vegas, not a historical city, do the tourist shit!

    Helicopter grand canyon
Go see whatever shows you fancy
Eat a some really good restaurants (forget the buffets)
Drink frozen margaritas and piss water lagers during the day, then decent stuff at night
    Gamble plenty
If steelpanther are playing House of Blues, check them out
If you are as brave as my wife, pay £100 to jump off the stratosphere

Oh, and have your breakfast at mon ami gambi at paris one day (seriously!)

I've seen Panther a few times in the UK, but up close at HOB in Vegas is a different animal altogether. Its worth an hour of your life if they are on.

Also saw Penn and Teller in Vegas, good enjoyable show. You get to laugh at the 'merican's who are dragged on stage and can't answer a question put to them without calling Penn 'sir'. :dayton:

While I didn't think it would be my cup of tea, 'O' at Bellagio was pretty impressive.

Eating and drinking you can't go wrong. Choose a hotel to visit each evening, look its restaurants up online before you leave your room so you don't miss any and choose the one you fancy. Pretty much every style and budget is catered for.

If you are staying near the top end, Wynn/Encore, don't go walking off strip. Not only does it look a dump, but after I watched Ross Kemps Vegas expose, its not far from being full scale gang warfare. To be honest though, aside from a trip to Freemont St which is good, you don't need to go off strip. You can get your fill of all manner of excess on the strip.

Its not a typical cultural holiday location, but if you can get past that and embrace it for what it is (I'm guessing you will be able to as youv chosen to get married there) then you'll have a blast. It really is Disneyland for adults!

    Oh, and congratulations!!!!

Well, we picked Vegas so no family would interfere. We were initially looking at Portmeirion, then Basque Spain. Had any family decided to come over to Vegas, I'd simply have beat NASA to the punch and developed something to go to Mars and back, and wished them luck following us there...
