I honestly forgot he existed till last year, but maybe that was because there were louder, more shrill voices than his littering the RR as far as conservatives go.
I've known a few vile, selfish people in my day and almost to a one they cared something for their grandchildren.
I was going to make a joke about him being "The best governor since the one who deployed troops to enforce segregation" but that would be more like 40 years. If you are going to go to 50 years it actually looks like there was a good governor of Arkansas, a Democrat who was outspoken for the time in support of African-American rights. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sid_McMath
Bill Clinton made a pretty good AR governor. If nothing else, he probably trolled the shit out of Dayton.
Clinton was not regarded as a very good governor. He kept getting reelected thanks to virtually no opposition.
I think Hillary Clinton will win. Naturally the Trump supporters in particular and the GOP in general will be unhappy. But I think the hardcore Hillary supporters will be irritated at how close the election turns out to be and that the GOP retains control of the House and Senate.
@Ramen will just crawl back under his rock for a few more years. However, watching @Volpone stamp his feet and yell “No fair, no fair!” for the next four years should be entertaining.
I don't know why people lose it so much when their side comes up short in an election. This is the USA. It is SAFE to lose an election in this country. Besides politics is like sports and gardening. There's always next year. (or two or four years). Why the anger over one election?
Yeah, I mean, it's not like an election ever led to anything like a Civil War in this country, right?
Because sports and gardening only affect people who enjoy sports and gardening. The safety, security, economy, etc.etc. of the entire country affect (or may affect) everyone in that country. However your first comment, that it's SAFE to lose an election) is correct. Because of our system of checks & balances nobody can ever get so much power that they can drive the country into the ground even if they tried.
And yet, the election of Lincoln sealed the decision of Southern states to leave the Union as soon as his victory was announced. One can't say if Stephen Douglas had won the election if the Civil War would have happened or not, but one most assuredly can say that had he won the election, Southern states wouldn't have immediately begun secession efforts. Whomever is President next will almost assuredly get to nominate one Supreme Court Justice, and quite possibly several others. This will have far-reaching implications, lasting well beyond the next President's term. Additionally, the rest of the world is going to react in very different ways to a Clinton or Trump Presidency, which will have a direct impact on the lives of individual Americans.
