This never would have happened if adults weren't getting all uppity about "living wage" this and "$15 minimum wage" that. Don't want kids doing dangerous work? Then step and accept $7.50 an hour like a man!

I swear, you libtards always want to eat your cake and then still have your cake afterward.

Do not speak poorly of the beast. Damien is not doing any of this shit. These are the jesus people. The antichrist has standards and repugs are not leading any of his armies.

He is going to stick a pineapple up your ass just for implying he would let Trump lead his armies.

Where's the "children can't consent" crowd when it's employers exploiting children for money? :chris:

I think children can consent to working. I don't think they should be allowed to be unsupervised in that consent. I also do not think they should be allowed to work as much as an adult, or overtime. I also think there should be some supervision over family employment.

I think there needs to be a way of allowing children to start to get experience with things like dating and work in age appropriate ways.

I had my working permit at 14 and was employed a month after my birthday at a summer job. I wanted video games, a stereo, TV, and a car eventually. Also, work was where I had adult supervision after school. It kept me away from arguing with my sister everyday until my mother got home.

However, there was a bit of a danger in my second job as the lane cleaner for the bowling alley. Yes, I was in back with the machinery that could have torn off an arm, and I wanted to learn how it all worked because I was interested in bowling. They were very clear that they did not want me up in the machines like they were. I was left alone near the cigarette machine which also dispensed matches to play with. I could have also probably snuch some booze from the bar as no one watched it.

How is that in conflict with capitalism? It took a long time to ban them from using child labour.

Anc is being facetious. I have no doubt they felt the same pique of blood red vision when seeing another child die because of this really fucking awful system in which we live.

I read about this on another board and of course the Democrats were all “we have child labor laws for a reason, this sounds unsafe” and the Republicans were all “in my day I walked 20 miles in the snow uphill, both ways, buck up snowflakes.”

The unemployment rate remains quite low. This is all about corporations extracting every last ounce of labor out of a captive audience. The Republican led states will always have a receptive ear to these ragtag policies.

ChatGPT is being trained on "relentlessly libertarian bullshit" models right now, so you're correct to be scared.

But a kid is always gonna be cheaper for the shit, dangerous jobs than a robot.

Robots cost money. Send a child.

We only use robots for dangerous tasks in universes where we value human life more than profit.

"Exploiting" them. Because they definitely didn't want those extra hours. Not a single one of them. Now they can all enjoy smaller paychecks for their own good. I was working at that age, and would have seen it as the government taking money out of my pocket.

As for that 15 year old's injury, I will need to know the specific nature of that "harm." A slip and fall? A grease splatter? It could be exaggerating something trivial that required no medical attention. You cannot take lawyer-ese or journalist-ese at face value.

That will shift eventually, when teenagers can evidently now only work a couple hours a day and adults expect entry level jobs to support a family, a mortgage, student loans and three car payments. Yes, I think you lardasses will eventually be buying your big macs from Rosie the robot. Ay which point, congratulations. You've won and NOBODY is getting paid.

Oh fuck off with your bad faith distortion. I was working at that age. By choice. Some of it was moderately dangerous and long hours. Nobody made me do it. Am I to hold this generation to a lesser standard?

So why isn't "some people did it in the past and were just fine, so regulating it/restricting it now is bad" your standard when the topic is trans kids? And there's surely people that went through no-fault divorce by choice, so why should the government imposed restrictions on that if they shouldn't do the same with child labour? This seems less about facts and logic and consistent libertarian principles and more about feelings. :chris:

Can you stay the fuck on topic? Jesus fucking christ. :bang:

I was working at that age. It caused me no harm, earned me a little cash and taught me a bit of work ethic. Whether or not that is "ok" is subjective. Whether it had any objectively negative outcomes is not. My question is what is so different about current generation that they must not be allowed to do the same?

Hunting and foraging won't sustain 6 billion people.
You're one of those 6 billion.
The odds against a holocaust event favoring you was a winner are astronomical.
